She winced a bit as she did so, making her realize that she had to calm down a bit. So, she took a deep breath, and managed to get herself totally dried off, and ready for leaving the room without too much more in the way of troubles.
Stepping out into the hallway, she looked around for signs of her husband, and sighed when she didn't find any. That only confirmed her feeling that he had just kept running, and she knew that this wasn't exactly a good way for their life together to go. Talking to him was important, but she would have to find him first. And before she could do that, she had to head up to her room, and get dressed for the afternoon.
But, as she walked through the hallway, she saw Nabiki coming from the other direction with a wry, yet appreciative, look on her face. "What's with you?"
"Nothing much," her sister answered. "Though, I now understand why you would want to marry him."
"Excuse me?"
"Your hubby. He's got some great buns, and that chest? Just what a girl would love to touch."
"You saw?"
"I saw."
"Damn it! He should have been able to just enjoy the soak!" Akane snarled under her breath.
"Daddy strikes again?"
"What? How did you know?"
"I know our father, sister dear, and I saw the panicked look on your spouse's face. That wasn't the expression of a man at ease."
"Grr.... Dad actually thought that he should stick his head in through the window while Ranma and I were in the furo...."
The elder girl's eyes widened. "You were in the furo with him?"
"I.... I'm his wife, and I can be with him like that if I want to!"
"Whoa, little sister. I wasn't condemning your actions."
"You weren't?"
"Not at all. You go, girl," Nabiki drawled, letting her grin grow as she saw the blush in her sister's cheeks.
"Yeah.... Well.... It doesn't look like Dad's going to agree with you."
"Dad is seeing his little girl as... a little girl, not as the grown young woman, and he's caught up with that one idea, so I figure that he's going to be like this for a long time."
"Great.... And here I was, hoping that my husband would get a chance to at least show a little interest in being with me for.... you know...."
"Indeed I do, and don't worry. Given what I saw, there's no doubt that he certainly wants you."
This time, it was Akane's eyes that shot open as wide as they could. "You SAW?!"
"Yup. Sure, it wasn't... 'full' right then, but I'm pretty certain that I could figure out what it would be like when it's ready to go. And I have to admit, if he wasn't married to you, I'd snatch him up myself, for at least a lot of closed doors activities. Maybe I still could...."
"Don't you try to have an affair with my husband...."
"Of course I wouldn't."
"Good. Because if you did, I'd strangle you myself," the married girl muttered.
"I was teasing, you know. I would be angry at anyone who did try it myself."
"Oh...."
A soft smile that many wouldn't have expected to see on the face of the 'Ice Queen' appeared. "You do love him, don't you."
"I do. With all my heart. And I do want to be a real wife to him."
"You already are, you know."
"I do. But.... I really want to have.... That is.... I...."
"I get the idea. And I'm pleased to hear it."
"You are?"
"Other than the fact that it says how much you have an actual attraction to him, it disproves something that I was afraid of."
"You were happy to be wrong?"
"On this. Definitely. I mean, I was always afraid that you'd be too much of a prude to actually let yourself enjoy some womanly urges. You'd get to be very uptight, you know."
"NABIKI!"
Her sister grinned wickedly. "What?"
"Do you have to always be like that?"
"Sure do."
"You've got to be kidding me...." the younger girl sighed, and then shook her head. "Well, even if you are enjoying this, I have a husband to find."
"Go and see him then. If I know Ranma, he won't be feeling very.... comfortable about what Dad had done."
"He wouldn't."
"Then, I'll let you go, so that you can do what you have to."
"Thanks," Akane replied, and moved to walk away.
"Akane?"
"Yeah?"
"Just so that you know, even if Dad's flipping out, Kasumi and I are on your side. Okay?" Nabiki murmured, reaching over to gently squeeze one of the martial artist's shoulders.
Patting her sister's hand, Akane smiled. "Thanks."
"Any time."
Akane nodded, and walked away, heading up towards her room, while:
