Even so, experimenting on slaves required that slave's permission except in very specific exceptions as designated in international law.
Asuka and Akane had both come under the same exception - willful destruction of property with perceived mental instability. In Asuka's case, her mother's instability had been seen as evidence that her own would worsen.
Nabiki had been another rule - criminal activity, and hadn't been used in an experiment. Rather she had simply been subjected to treatments that had known results and side effects.
As Soun listened to the rain turning to a gentle patter on the roof tiles, he could hear the faint chiming of bells. Akane was dancing somewhere - probably in the dojo from the sound of it.
Dance was one of the things Akane enjoyed doing now, the knowledge of it being forcefed into her brain and her body following that directive. She found it relaxing and stimulating at the same time, and it certainly gave her a good workout and kept her limber.
It also kept the fires banked within her. Soun had read the reports. Part of her problems had been her antagonism to the idea that she could be trained as a Concubine. Not that this was necessarily going to be her fate, plenty of slaves were not sexually available. It depended on their contract. Just the idea had been enough to get her violent, which was ironic. Had she simply said 'no' - it was quite likely that she'd never have had to go along with it.
Soun watched the rain and felt his heart clench. His darling youngest daughter from Kumiko was very much a pervert. Better set her on Genma's son when they arrived, otherwise her "accidental" bumping into him or walking in on him in the bath was likely to get into an area he'd rather not explore.
