Whapping himself on his forehead, he groaned. "Get a hold of yourself, guy?"
"Is something wrong, dear?" Kasumi asked, genuine concern showing on her features.
"Nah, nah.... Just an odd thought."
"Oh?"
"It's really not somethin' ta worry 'bout. Only somethin' that seemed ta be a bit strange ta think of right now," he told her, and sighed, knowing that what he was saying was the truth. Even if he was expected to desire his wife, trying anything at the moment was a bit tricky. Besides, she was too pure and good to be treated as anything less than being special, and he didn't want to just treat her like some lewd jackass.
"If you say so...."
"Don't worry. I'm sure that it won't be any trouble."
"That's good, but I wasn't worried. I was more curious than anything else."
"Ya were?"
"Certainly," she told him with a smile. "It simply wouldn't do to borrow trouble when we already have concerns to handle."
"That's true. But what can happen?"
"Probably nothing...."
"Hello? Is anyone home?" called out a feminine voice that sounded like it was coming from the front door.
Kasumi stopped and blinked as she reached the bottom of the stairs. "I did not expect that."
"Neither did I."
"But we really should answer that. It's not proper to leave a guest waiting like that."
"Especially since I recognize that voice," he commented, and followed his wife's trail as she went to the front door. As she opened it, he saw an attractive redheaded woman standing there, looking lovely in a nice kimono. "Mom? What are ya doin' here?"
"Why hello Ranma!" Nodoka Saotome replied with a bright smile, even as the sound of a squeaking board turned to thumping footsteps. "I'm so glad that you're here!"
"I did figure that we'd.... GAK!"
"BOY! How do you know who that woman is?!" a suddenly appearing Genma yelled as he held his son by the collar tight enough so that the boy was gasping.
"Met her 'bout six months ago, and kept in touch since then."
"Don't you realize how stupid that was?!"
"Whadda ya mean?"
"You should have stayed far away from her!"
The sound of a sword being drawn followed his declaration, and the sharp edge of the Saotome honor blade rested on the patriarch's Adam's apple. "And why should he do that, husband?"
"That is... he.... Should have waited for me?"
"Why? He has grown into a fine young man."
"He has? But, what about...."
"I have found him to be very manly."
"Oh...." Genma gasped, and let his son fall to the floor. "How did you know that I.... we were here?"
"I let her know," Ranma muttered, idly tugging his collar away from his throat.
"How? You didn't leave me today for long enough to do that."
"There's this thing that's called a phone. I stop, use a pay phone, and get ta talk ta my Mom."
"Right."
"Now that that's settled," Nodoka said as she slid the sword back into its sheathe. Clapping her hands together, she gave a wide grin. "As my little boy is with his bride.... How have you two been doing?"
"Whatever do you mean?" Kasumi asked.
"Are you getting along?"
"The two of us are getting along perfectly...."
"And has he been able to show you how manly he is?"
"Eh?"
"Come now. You're a lovely young woman, and he's come to you. Haven't you two enjoyed the bliss of being a couple together? I know that you young people can really be passionate when involved in such things."
Ranma took one look at his wife's reddening face, and knew that she was sharing the same embarrassment that he was feeling. "MOM!"
"What?"
"How can ya ask that sorta thing?!"
"I am your mother, and I just want to know that you two are getting to be happy. You have been able to have a chance to do so, right?"
"Ya've gotta be kiddin' me! I just got here!"
"I see...." his mother murmured, sounding disappointed. "That would be a problem then...."
"'Sides, it's not like I'd be just tumblin' her inta bed, or somethin' like that."
"Oh, I wouldn't expect you to. That would be entirely too pushy."
"Glad that we agree on that...."
"Of course, you have had some time to do it, and I do have to wonder why you haven't at least taken advantage of some opportunity to show her your manliness. Still, there will be plenty of time over your lifetime together."
"Ugh. Mom...." the pigtailed boy moaned, hanging his head, while:
