While most of the Senshi were alternating between gawking at the new arrival who was slowly drifting back towards the bundle she'd left on the nearby rooftop, and gawking at Setsuna due to the novelty of seeing her speechless, Ami was coaxing the Mercury computer into giving her a best guess as to what was going on. What she was finding was... astonishing, to say the least.
"Hey guys, listen to this! I think I've managed to track down where she's from!" The others stopped gawking and turned expectantly towards Ami - even Setsuna. "From what I'm able to piece together, she's managed to get pretty good and lost - not only is the N-space coordinates of the other end of that hole pretty far from here, but the H-space offset is weird as well."
Seeing only blank looks as she looked up, she refined her explanation somewhat.
"Okay... N-space is pretty much what we can see - up/down, left/right, back/forward. If you pick a point, and three cardinal directions, you can give the location of any other point as an offset, or as an angle and a distance. From what the sensors tell me, the other end of the portal is physically somewhere over there," she raised her hand and pointed off into space. Seeing that she hadn't lost her audience completely - yet! - she continued.
"H-space is trickier - the only direction we're even able to perceive in H-space is time - the others are pretty much outside our frame of reference. We can describe them mathematically, but you can't really picture them - without cheating. We can make another diagram with three new dimensions and the same points - although they won't be in the same places. In that diagram, Tokyo would be in the same place as the North Pole, while the Dark Kingdom would have a slight negative Y-axis offset. The tunnel, though, originates from some place with a pretty pronounced positive X-axis offset, and a slight negative Z-shift-"
"In other words, they're from some place ahead and slightly above us, while the Dark Kingdom is somewhere on the left?" Usagi broke in. Now it was Ami's time to gape, but she caught herself quickly.
"Almost, the Dark Kingdom is below us, and that other place is somewhere on the right," she corrected.
"Damnit, I always get those wrong..." Usagi grumbled.
"Anyway," Ami continued, "the X-axis on the H-space diagram is time - in other words, she's from some place in the future, but not our future, in addition to being from another planet. Everyone with me so far?"
The crowd nodded hesitantly.
"Now as for our guests themselves-" Ami broke off suddenly, staring at something behind the others.
"Ano... who are you people?" a hesitant voice asked from the same direction. "And how do you know so much?"
