Ranma looked at all the girls in the dining room and knew of their approval to the idea through their bond. It was growing stronger and now words could be heard among the emotions.
"All right, old..." Ranma winced at the mental disapproval of Kasumi, Shampoo and Setsuna "Elder Cologne of the joketsuzoku... Your help is greatly appreciated and we accept your offer"
"Very good, Son-in-Law. It seems you are willing to give this a chance as well" She chuckled "I hope you'll be able to keep up with all your ladies in the next nine months. It won't be a pleasure ride, my boy"
"Don't worry about me... About that, I've got questions and maybe you can answer them"
"Ask away, Son-in-Law, and I'll tell you what I know or think about it"
"What can you tell us about this bond we share ? Is it dangerous ? Permanent ?" That was one of his worries. It was steadily strengthening, will the physical pain of one of them be felt by the others ? Giving birth would be a nightmare in that case.
"I can only speculate since it is the first time I see something like this in my 300 years of experience. Your auras are now linked but the more distance betwen yourselves, the less you should pick up the others' emotions and thoughts... We can only wait and see..."
"There's something else..." Ranma turned to look at a nervous Hinako "Hinako-sensei's 'unique' metabolism seems to be a thing of the past but I... We want to know if she will have problems carrying her baby to term because of it" It was helpful to pick up all those words from Kasumi's mind. He would have made a fool of himself trying to say this before.
"Mmmm... Your concerns are valid, Son-in-Law. I'll look into this. Do you still have Happi's chart explaining what he did to her ?" Ranma nodded "Good. It should make it easier..."
"One last thing..." Ranma looked at Rouge and Shampoo this time "I just remembered something about... the Musk dynasty. They used the spring of drowned girl on animals to make wives, right ?" It was Cologne's turn to nod in affirmative "Herb, Mint and Lime had animal traits because of this. Will this happen to Rouge and Shampoo's children ?"
Rouge and Shampoo shuddered. They hadn't considered the possibility. Mental pictures of children with cat and ashura characteristics ran rampant in everyone's mind.
"I honestly don't know, Son-in-Law... Bear in mind that the Musk locked the curses with the chisuiiton. Maybe unlocked ones won't have so much impact on the children. We can only hope..."
Ranma didn't like the uncertainty in Cologne's words but he could do nothing about it. Feeling distress coming from everyone, he tried to soothe their worries by broadcasting caring thoughts and reassuring words. It seemed to work until Cologne asked THE question.
"By the way, Son-in-Law... You've told me your plan for a big family and I approve but... who will be your wife regarding japanese society and law ?"
Ranma gulped and saw the puppy dog eyes on all the girls' faces while being bombarded through their bond by love, hope, anticipation and a small dose of fear *Why me ?*
