Thunder Ken: Words Of Understanding [Episode 155893]

by Kender

It was only close to two hours later, but Ami was still trying to figure out which was more sore, her legs, or her head. Normally, the only pains that she tended to get were when she was sick, or in some sort of accident, and neither of those applied at the moment. But the reason was on the same level as those particular situations, and was perhaps even more memorable than either would ever be.

She had to stop aching long enough to be certain that she could logically think about what was going on.

At the moment though, she was sitting on a tree stump and trying to massage some non-painful feeling back into her lower limbs because her brother had been apparently pushing for his training to be taken seriously. So, after such a long hike, she had wound up running through a forest, trying to dodge various simple traps that swung, tossed, and dropped relatively soft things on her head. But the 'relative' part came from the fact that he merely used things that would at most leave a bruise, rather than something that would toss a girl off of her feet. Because of that, she wound up smacking and bumping into various items, learning her dodging skills were not as good as she thought. But that wasn't all that there was to being a Senshi, and they hadn't even transformed to the activity.

Though, it did seem that some were taking it more seriously than others. Her brother was obviously into this whole idea, and Rei was giving it a good shot. Both of her blonde teammates had actually tried, and managed to get through it without being too badly bruised. But it was Makoto who she found herself watching, as the tall girl still seemed to be acting distant, and was actually pushing herself during their trial runs of the course.

"You really don't know," murmured a familiar voice. "Do you?"

Ami blinked and looked up at the blonde next to her. "Usagi?"

"She isn't happy, you know."

"I can see that...."

"Can you?"

"I think that I can see...."

"Ami-chan? I'm worried," Usagi told her softly.

"About this trip? I...."

"About you."

"Me?"

"You're getting into so much.... You were the first person that I could share being a Senshi with. But now.... Everyone's getting mad at you, and I don't like it."

The cram school student sighed. "Neither do I, but I don't know why it's happening. I mean, what did I say to Makoto that made her so angry?"

"You made it sound like martial artists shouldn't get involved in all this scary stuff."

"And I think that's true. I mean, my brother is one, and he couldn't handle being attacked by a monster."

"Mako-chan's a martial artist too."

"That's...." the short haired girl trailed off. "Oh my...."

"The first time that I met her, she saved me by beating up these jerks who were trying to hurt me."

"I'll admit that it would come in handy then, but...."

"The first time that she faced a monster, she lifted and tossed it away, saving me, before she went over and managed to get a hit on that jerk Zoicite."

"Oh, I...."

"And she couldn't even transform yet," the blonde added.

"She did do all that, didn't she?"

"Yes, she did. But who'd you say was the strongest of us? In actually hitting bad guys without powers."

"Makoto."

Usagi gave her a questioning gaze. "But you said that a martial artist can't help out."

"I... didn't think that would include her."

"It sounded like that."

"How'd you know that was what made her mad?" Ami asked. "Did she tell you?"

"No, she didn't say anything about it."

"Then how did you know."

In what was a rather odd position for both girls, Usagi gave her a look that said that the test ace wasn't using her brain. "It was real obvious."

"Oh. So then...."

"I just thought that you should know. I don't want my friends being angry with each other."

"Me either," Ami agreed, watching the other girl turn to walk away.

"I don't know how to fix it though."

"Hopefully, I can make her understand what I meant. I mean, there's a difference between someone like her, and a fighter who is not a Senshi."

"Is there?"

"What do you mean?"

"I was just thinking that I would feel better living in a world that everyone who could protect it had a chance to do exactly that."

Watching her friend go, Ami blinked in confusion, and realized that things were certainly changing from what she'd known, while:
