Crimson Thunder: Guess Who Gets A New Hammer? [Episode 156872]

by H. Torrance Griffin

Ranma was irritated.

Not only did Akane manage to tag along on his latest training trip (although admittedly that was not so bad since he beat her to the cookfire consistently), but a bunch of rock monsters with some sort of ray guns came after them. Alone it would not have been a problem to pound them in despite hides a lot tougher than any sone he had run into, but he had to get Akane to safety and now they dropped half a mountain on them!

It was dark and a little stuffy in this cave they found themselves in, but Ranma could tell how unstable the walls were. More to the point he had no idea how deep underground the two of them had been buried so smashing his way free would not be a Good Idea... especially given how that boulder came down on Akane's leg and she'd be even slower than normal.

So they dug. Slowly and carefully shifting stone by feel from the side they thought was closest to open air. It was only when he heard Akane heave herself up on the stick she had been using as a makeshift cane that he opened his mouth.

"Ya had to tag along slowpoke." Ranma grumbled.

"What?" Akane snapped.

"Walkin' up to those rock guys and sayin' 'I Come In Peace' like some sorta-"

"They only started shooting after you kicked that one in the face!"

"Yeah right! He was already reaching for- waitaminute, maybe they coulda related to you. You look just like them."

"WHY YOU...!"

#'Least she ain't about to cry or nothin'.# Ranma mused as he distracted himself by dodging the stick/cane/cudgel his betrothed was swinging at him in the darkness. The easy familiarity of this scene ended with the impact of wood on stone... followed promptly by a pulse of light and sound like a thunderbolt at point blank range.

Even as Ranma's eyes cleared he realized that the situation had changed considerably.

Firstly, there was enough light so see by.

Secondly, the light source was the electrical arcs crackling around the sawed-off sledgehammer with a leather-bound handle Akane was holding.

Thirdly, Akane had not only healed completely but had gained over 20 centimeters in height, was better built (in both senses of the word) than Ranma had ever been, bore waist-length blue-black braids in place of her ususal bob, and was clad in some blue-enameled amalgam of Norse and Samurai Armour.

More to the point, she was still miffed.

"RANMA NO..." Akane growled as she twirled the sacred uru hammer Mjolnir above her head.
