Wang merely raised his brows at him. "You sound like you don't agree."
"I wouldn't exactly say that. It's just that this is a secret facility."
"I know that."
"Then why let two people who have been here out where they can let others know about us?"
"Simple," Wang replied wryly. "They don't know what we are doing here."
"But they have to know...."
"Remember, they were caught before they managed to do any sort of exploring. As far as they know, this is just another military base, doing some sort of work that we paranoid communists don't like to broadcast."
"Then won't any official they meet wonder about what this place might be?"
"Of course, but the foreigners tend to think that we have secretive facilities at every military post, right down to the motor pool repair shops. We'll just be another base built for reasons only we know."
Wing frowned thoughtfully. "But why not simply process them like the others?"
"Because they have connections, and there is a trail from them heading in this direction. Even if we could make it so that they are not thought to be here, they are known to be heading to this general area. We'd have people searching for them around here for years, considering their connections, and that is not something that we want at all."
"I understand."
"Good. Now, if we can simply make them happy to have gotten out of being 'interrogated', they'll leave with the idea that they only had a brush with the regular military."
"Which they might have expected to have to do later."
"Exactly. Though...."
"Yes?"
"It might be best to get samples from the boy," Wang instructed. "We might not be able to keep him, but if we can analyze his genetics, or even make a clone that is, or will be made, female, we won't need him here as much."
"You're right about that."
"Still, I hope that this will work."
"This could be our best shot."
"If the boy, his pets, and his father cooperate as we think they will," Wang sighed, and thought of the younger Saotome, not knowing that Ranma was:
