This is what I'll do. Create a new save file for the game and then save it. This way, I'll remember that my duel record is not perfect and that I have experienced a loss before. Also, if I really want to maintain my perfect record, I can simply load the last save of the default file.
Fair enough. Saving game under File 2... done.
I may as well get ready to leave. I still need to grab breakfast and have a shower as well. First, say to Asuka: "Thanks for the duel! I hope that I can duel you again after I tweak this deck a bit!"
Before she could reply, you hear two other females call out to her. "Asuka! That was an awesome duel!" It's Junko and Momoe, Asuka's roommates. "It was so close at the last bit but we knew that you would pull out something out of your hat! That's why you're the Queen of Obelisk Blue!"
"Considering that she was top in prep school a while ago before entering Duel Academy, you bit off more than you can chew, Negi," said Momoe.
Speak melodramatically and say: "Ouch!! Your cruel words sting my aching heart!!"
This caused the girls to giggle a little. "It's good to see that you can take defeat well unlike Professor Chronos. He totally freaked when Judai defeated him in the exam!" stated Asuka.
Say: "As a serious duelist working constantly to create new decks to keep up with the continuously evolving tournament scene, I have to keep working with all sorts of new deck concepts and playtest them. Defeats are just as valuable as victories when it comes to finding out what works and what doesn't in a new deck."
"That's kinda technical. Are you sure you're not related to Misawa, the duelist who uses science to calculate his deck mix?" asked Junko.
Say: "Er... no. That type of approach is simply something that any serious duelist would use. I wouldn't be surprised if Seto Kaiba spends all his free time playtesting new Blue Eyes White Dragon decks. As a world champ, he has a reputation to maintain."
"Makes sense. Well... we gotta get going. Things to do and all. But when you're done revising your deck, I'll be happy to help you test it again!" Asuka borrows your PDA and swaps contact information within a few seconds. Once she's finished, she gives you back the item and heads off with Junko and Momoe to who knows where.
That turned out fairly well. I have a nice young woman's contact information... let's head back to my dorm, grab breakfast and shower so that I'm ready for the day.
Approximately half an hour later, you feel refreshed and ready to take on the day's challenges. What do you want to do now?
What is there to do? It's not like I can instantly skip to major events... can I?
To some extent, you can. However if you do decide to skip, the game will generate random factors for character interaction. For example, you could wind up as Hibiki's boyfriend or you could wind up as the enemy of Junko or something.
That's interesting... so how many major events are there?
Quite a few. And there are the special duel events that can't really be skipped. You see, there are four Dorm Placement exams a year, one every three months. Depending on your ranking, you are placed in Osiris Red, Ra Yellow or Obelisk Blue. Then there are qualifier tournaments held in the Academy itself so that the duel can select representatives for the interschool duels.
Explain more about that, please.
There are four tournaments per year between Duel Academy and the various other duel schools in the world. The timing is that the qualifier tournaments be held about a month before the actual interschool tournament. As for the tournament format, the upcoming one is limited single, meaning a one on one duel with both players building their own decks at the tournament from the large number of booster packs provided. The other three formats are limited tag-team (so two versus two), constructed single (one on one with both players bringing their own decks) and constructed tag-team (two on two).
So... that works out to...
At least one major duel event a month. And you don't know when major story events will show up so you have to keep an eye out for that too. In any case, the game allows you the option of going to the next major event... which is the Qualifer for the Limited Tournament. By that time, the shopkeeper will be back with tons of boosters for everybody who could enter. The way the qualifier works is that each dorm must first select a representative so you'll probably duel a number of people in the Obelisk Blue dorm. Of course, you won't duel everybody as only some are entering.
That's good to hear.
Once each dorm has their rep, it'll be a three way free-for-all duel with the last remaining player selected to be the school representative at these Interschool duels.
I see. In that case...
