On Mars, he was the person responsible for their current situation. He was seen as slightly dotty, but not evil. In some eyes he was a hero, either for standing up to the establishments or for opening up a new frontier.
In order to make a living on Mars, the pokegirls had talents that could affect their environment.
Akane was a Gynoid, a steel pokegirl with strength and durability and the ability to survive in the Martian environment unaided.
Her older sister Mist (or Kasumi, depending on who was talking to her) was a Djinni, which was Air type - and able to convert CO2 to Oxygen by causing the Oxygen to precipitate the Carbon. She was frequently dusting and distracted, the latter because she did keep converting the air around her into something pokegirls and humans could breathe. The dusting was because of everything that the air molecules dumped as she went along. In areas where the low air pressure would be a problem, she unconsciously held together a bubble of higher pressure.
Her second oldest sister was a Vixxen, and had the name Silver (or Nabiki) because of a streak of silver in her mane. She was hoping to turn all silver when she evolved, but that was a ways off if it ever happened. As a Fire type, she could heat things up.
With Mist in the group, they wouldn't have to worry about the low atmospheric pressure or replacing airtanks. At least as often or as much. The air pressure wasn't going to cause anyone to explode, even a weak human, but it could still cause health problems.
With Silver, they had a means of generating energy when needed. Use Firebolt on some rocks a few times, and they'd radiate enough heat to keep a human alive.
Given a pressure tent (reducing Mist's efforts in that regard) and supplies, Ash could now reasonably expect to be able to spend some time out in the field.
That still didn't address the issue of the Undine. Vixxen was a Fire type and weak against Water. Gynoids had some trouble with Water, and Djinni weren't particularly effective against Water types either though they weren't particularly weak against them either. If she evolved, Akane knew that her weakness against Water attacks would evaporate but that would be far in the future, unfortunately.
Something strong against Water types would be ideal, but how to get one.
(I saw what you just did,) said a familiar voice in pokespeak.
Akane startled. While not specifically forbidden, she knew it would be strongly frowned at to be taking two of her sisters with her. She looked to the speaker and realized someone else from the brood was there, someone who had not ended up with a trainer. Her hand snuck around the third empty pokeball she'd snuck from her trainer's belt.
