One didn't think of physical force when one saw Hotaru, even though she was a dragon girl. Her horns were more 'cute' than 'dangerous', her wings had a bit of an air of fragility, and even her her tail seemed to be taken as being 'pretty'. That, added to her naturally sweet, shy, and non combative personality made for a pet girl who didn't really seem to be threatening at all.
Of course, that could be rather misleading, as when someone had tried to attack Nabiki in Hotaru's presence, and she shoved that person away, only to find that the person had been literally thrown down the block.
"Is somethin' up?" Ranma asked as he looked up at her.
Hotaru shook her head, and looked a little embarrassed. "I was just wondering what you were doing up here."
"Just relaxin'. It's not a lot of times that I get ta have quiet moments ta enjoy times like this."
"Oh.... I'm certain that they don't intend to cause trouble...."
"Trust me. I know that they aren't mean or bad. Otherwise I'd already have done somethin' 'bout it."
"You would have?"
"Sure. Ain't too sure what I'd do, but I know that since they mean well, it's really not a really big point. 'Sides, I like ya guys, even if I don't always have a chance ta take it as easy as I might like."
"Hmmm...."
"Well, are ya gonna sit or not?" he asked. "It ain't like ya gotta worry 'bout fallin' off."
"But, I.... You said that you wanted to be alone."
"Nope. I said that I wanna enjoy a peaceful moment, and it ain't like you're gonna try ta slip under the cover of my futons ta wait for me late at night."
"I... could never do something like that," she responded, her face flaming at the image that idea brought up.
"Minako could. And she ain't the first."
"Eep.... So.... Are you sure...."
"Hotaru? Sit."
Blushing, the dragongirl did so, and demurely sat next to him, before looking over at him shyly and sliding as close to him as she would dare attempt.
Smiling at her, Ranma reached over with one hand and stroked her hair with great reassurance and kindness as he settled down to enjoy the quiet time with her.
Normally, Setsuna Meiou could fight against a lot of enemies, and was skilled in the use of her Time Staff. However, even she knew that there were opponents, enemies or not, who needed to be handled with the help from comrades. When someone got into hot water, they had to rely on the cavalry for a rescue, as there were always going to be moments when someone needed to get help in a moment of crisis. And she had been hoping for a quick arrival of that sort of assistance when she'd been facing off with her current opponent.
But as she was not used to fighting when she was basically upside down, she was at a bit of a disadvantage, and wasn't going to be as skilled in handling things. Then there was the fact that the back of one of her knees was resting on her opponent's shoulder, with the other pressing against a bicep, with that long tongue in play at the moment. Needless to say, she was kind of distracted right then.
Not that Setsuna-bat minded the sort of results that her attentions were getting at all.
Both were certainly concentrating on what was going on, while:
