Kusaku Natsume and Soichiro Tomoe should NEVER be found working together. That was a disaster waiting to happen.
Setsuna opened a door marked "Do Not Enter - Highly Dangerous Test Subject" figuring that this was an obvious ruse.
"Are you the special one just for me?" asked a girl with long hair.
SLAM! went the door back closed, Setsuna incidently leaning on it from the other side. "That was close."
"Excuse me, Ma'am."
Setsuna looked up to see what looked like a squad of armored Marines holding rifles. They weren't pointing AT her, which some portion of her mind calmly noted. The rest was about ready to go off in a panic.
"May I see your ID?" asked the lead Marine.
He'd invented a few things, including the Saotome Drive - a form of cold fusion that was leading the new energy revolution. Coming out soon would be another invention which would also send waves throughout civilization, and it was one that everyone who had seen a picture of Ranma as he was in this timeline would see as being of special interest to him.
A small electrical current went into the artificial muscle, which contracted under that influence.
"Good, good," said Ranma to one of the other scientists present. "We got the mass down, and the electrical signal needed to stimulate it is within the limits. Now it's just a matter of fine-tuning it to mesh with the artificial nerve tissue."
Ranma left those to consider the various implications. Japan was not the only government to put money and materials in his grasp here. If they wanted to build power armor, or buildings which could flex on their foundations in an earthquake, or something of that nature - that was fine. He just wanted to walk.
Yeah, nobody was surprised that he was trying to work out fully functional artificial limbs. So they had their reasons, and he had his. As long as everyone got what they wanted - no problem right?
Besides, it made those color-coded giant robots for the Senshi faster and more responsive if he used artificial muscles.
