Usagi sat at a table in the Restoration Room, a bit nervous on what she was about to do. She smiled and blinked away some tears as Hotaru and her father hugged each other. The girl who was Sailor Saturn came over and sat down at Usagi table.
"Where's Chibi-Usa?" Hotaru asked.
Usagi's smile faded and she gave a long sigh.
"She's home and can not return. Things have changed."
Hotaru blinked. "I thought she was your daughter from the future. At least that's the impression I got from the memories that I have recovered."
"She was," Usagi said, a bit sad. "She was from a future city called Crystal Tokyo. Something happened recently and Crystal Tokyo cannot come about. Chibi-Usa is still...I..."
"She's fine and living in her own timeline," another voice declared. "She sends her love and wishes she could visit, but knows she can't."
Hotaru and Usagi turned and saw a green haired woman leaning against the wall. She was wearing a Sailor Senshi outfit that had a black skirt.
"Setsuna?" Usagi asked in shock. "I thought you were...."
"Dead?" Sailor Pluto asked slightly amused. "I was sent back to the Time Gates for saving Haruka and Michiru, until another event provided me the energy and need to leave. With all the chaotic elements that have been brought into your life by meeting Mai, the Time Gates have shut down."
Hotaru blinked and she shouted. "What?! The Time Gates are down?! I thought they...."
Before Sailor Pluto could reply, a bunch of Spirit Police officers came rushing into the room. Mai and Hikari were leading the group. Mai had her shinai out and the Spirit Police had their guns out.
"Hold it right there!" Mai shouted, as she stared at Sailor Pluto.
"Mai, it's all right. She's a friend," Usagi said, looking at Sailor Pluto. "At least I think she is."
Sailor Pluto shrugged. "I'm still loyal to you, Princess. By the way Doro was right about the events with the Black Moon family."
Mai motioned with one hand and the Spirit Police lowered their weapons. Mai took a look at the green haired Senshi and shook his head.
"Sailor Pluto I presume?"
Setsuna nodded and gave an amused glance at Saturn. "Don't yell in a Police Station. It tends to upset the people working there."
Hotaru blushed and looked away, as Setsuna gave a light chuckle.
"The Time Gates aren't working, because there are just so many new choices being opened up. The Time Gates are only good for viewing the present or the past right now," Setsuna explained. "Hotaru? You do recall the Silver Millennium in full detail don't you?"
Hotaru nodded a bit sadly. "My full life from the previous time and now this time. I even recall being Mistress 9."
Setsuna waved her arm in an encompassing gesture. "Don't worry about being shunned about being Sailor Saturn. This police station and others like it took up our duties while we were no longer capable of doing so. One thing they can help you with is a bit of control on your powers and help you with your health."
Sailor Pluto noted that most of the Spirit Police had left. Only Mai and Hikari were left behind.
"How can they help me?" Hotaru asked.
Sailor Pluto pointed at Mai and Hikari. "The Makendo are equal to the stronger Sailor Senshi in power. However, they are more versatile in use of their powers. Like you, they can heal themselves or others. They have multiple magical attacks. They also have a few tricks with some of their Makendo Magic that gives them advantages in fights."
"Actually, I can't heal others," Hikari said, holding up a finger. "I'm better at creating shields and I do have the doubling aura that I can place on an opponent. Mai can heal others, but it looks like Naru is going to top her in healing."
"Doubling aura?" Usagi asked.
"Any attack that strikes someone that is under the effect takes twice the damage," Hikari said. "Mai, if she gets time to get it off, can seal an opponent's magic for an hour."
Usagi laughed as she heard that. "That would be funny to see. Haruka and Michiru trying to use their attacks and nothing happens."
The magical girls all laughed at that mental image.
"You said that Naru will be better than Mai at healing," Usagi said curiously.
"Naru will be able to generate and aura than can heal numerous people at the same time," Mai said with a shrug.
Usagi looked around. "Where's Naru and Doro?"
"Doro is taking Naru on her first mission. She's got an easy assignment. It should also be good experience for her in dealing with some of the unusual things we have to deal with," Mai said.
"She has gotten attacked by silly looking monsters and willingly joined you," Usagi said.
"True. But, they aren't as weird as some of the stuff that we have faced," Mai said.
"Like what?" Usagi asked.
"Well, a week ago someone miscast a spell and it affected a series of items throughout a skyscraper. It animated them gave all of them a French accent and they kept shouting 'Viva la Revolution'. That wouldn't be so bad, but every time they spoke a blast of hot water gushed forth from them."
"So?" Usagi said, raising an eyebrow.
"It was the toilets. Hikari and I had to fight a small army of revolting French toilets."
Usagi, Setsuna, and Hotaru looked as if they had stepped in something unpleasant.
"You have to be kidding," Hotaru said.
"Nope," Mai said shaking her head. "Bad puns brought to life are one of the things we have to deal with. There is a group that uses the three English letters H O L as their acronym. It's pronounced whole. They have a sentient enchilada and a demonic wax ball as members. I do not recall what the acronym stands for."
Setsuna bent her head down and held her nose, as she shook her head in disbelief.
"Pluto?" Hotaru asked. "How can the Makendo help me with my powers?"
"They can train you if you want. I think all three of us could make good use of some training here. Princess, you need to stop relying on artifacts to focus your attack. Mai uses a shinai, but she can fight without it."
"I do have a few magical attacks that I don't need the shinai for," Mai added. "I also have my soul fire attack that I used to shatter the Space Sword's energy blade attack. She is right, Usagi. I don't need the shinai most of the time. Creatures that are covered with a contact poison or things that drain energy by touch, I do need the shinai for. I use it because I'm comfortable with it."
"Will I have time to train before Uranus and Neptune try again?" Usagi asked.
"Probably. Mai and Hikari humbled them. They will plan for a little bit, before trying again," Setsuna said.
"Can't you say something to them to get them to stop this?" Usagi asked in desperation. "They will listen to you."
Setsuna gave a long sigh. "Princess, the two of them need to learn that there is far more than one way to do something. They also need to learn to stop jumping to conclusions based off of flimsy evidence. They do tend to be obsessive and reluctant to change their ways until something major happens. I could say something to them, but those flaws would remain and cause problems later on. I'm hoping this little mess will finally teach them and get them to really look at themselves."
Usagi looked away from Sailor Pluto and sighed sadly, knowing that Setsuna was probably right.
"Princess, when you get the chance, you might want to bring Tuxedo Mask here. He might have broken Beryl's hold on him with your help, but some of that darkness is still within him and is making him act funny at times. If this place was able to restore a previous life's memories, I'm quite sure they can restore a current life's."
"I'll try."
Sailor Pluto nodded and teleported away. Mai looked up at a clock and motioned for Usagi to join her. As the two friends left Spirit Police Headquarters, Mai gave n amused chuckle.
"It's time to get you back home," Mai said.
"Where will the Tomoe's be staying?" Usagi asked.
Mai pointed behind her to the police station. "There. They do have living facilities in the place. Hotaru will be attending Hikari's school. Since she's a Sailor Senshi, she should be used to wearing such a short skirt."
"Oh?"
"Yep. The skirt on Hikari's school outfit is about the same length as the skirt of a Sailor Senshi outfit. It might be shorter. We do know the skirt length is longer than the skirt length on our Makendo outfits," Mai said.
The two exited the Spirit World a block away from Usagi's house. The girls quickly detransformed and walked to Usagi's house. Lying next to fence surrounding the Tsukino's home, Luna was curled up and staring at Mai and Usagi.
Mai picked the cat up and started petting it. "Luna?"
Usagi nodded.
"You've told me a lot about her and not all of it good," Mai said, as she allowed Luna to jump down to the ground.
Usagi shrugged and headed for the door to her house. Luna quickly followed her.
"See you tomorrow, Usagi."
"See you tomorrow."
Mai went down an alley and transformed back into Makendo and walked back into the spirit world. Back at the Tsukino home, Luna headed into Usagi's bedroom and called the other Inner Senshi.
"Usagi's home. She showed up with I think Mai. I did not see Naru."
"What?" Minako's voice came through the communicator. "How? We were watching every possible way to the block that has Usagi's house."
"Mai just went down the alley, and..."
"I'm watching the other end of that alley and no one has entered or left it," Minako said.
"There is something really weird about that Mai girl," Luna muttered.
"We'll talk about it at the next meeting," Minako said. "Hopefully, we can get Usagi to show up and get some questions answered."
