Ranma sat across from Irene, fidgeting while waiting for her to speak. After several minutes of silence, Wanda became annoyed. “So, anyone going to tell me what’s going on?” Irene seemed amused by this, while Ranma shifted around in his seat.
“It’s simple, really. The one you knew as Mystique is no more. You see, Ranma isn’t originally from this reality. In his home reality, shortly after he defeated a demi-god by the name of Saffron, the Master of the school of martial arts he practices obtained a repaired magical artifact that would let him travel to any point in history. Ranma fought him and retrieved the artifact, but a rival, who used some sort of tear gas, distracted him. The Master threw some bombs at him and they exploded the moment the artifact activated, causing Ranma to not only go back in time but to cross the barrier that separates realities. The crossing over would have killed him had it not been for the fact that he had a magical curse that caused him to switch genders with the application of cold and warm water. When he arrived in our reality, he was in his female form and had a severe case of amnesia.”
“She paused to let her audience absorb this information before speaking again. “After several months of being here he learned that he could shape-shift after falling off of a cliff and turned into a raven. And the rest as they say is history. Today he has just regained those lost memories.”
Wanda sat there and thought about what she had been told. The thing with the magic wasn’t all that weird considering what she her self could do. Looking over to Mystique, -No, Ranma. -, she corrected herself, she saw that he had shifted to a red headed oriental female form and was silently crying. “Ranma? What’s wrong?” She knew it was unlike her to show any concern for someone else, but the way Ranma looked tugged at her.
Ranma turned to look at her and Wanda could see the pain in the red head’s eyes. “I… My memories of being Mystique show that I have children. I promised my self that I would always be there for them if I had any, and I did what my parents did to me. I abandoned them like mine did to me.” With that, she broke down sobbing. Wanda didn’t know what to do. Slowly, she pulled the older woman into a hug and was surprised when the hug was returned.
After calming down, she gave Wanda a small smile before turning to Irene and saying:
