The first thing that registered in Rugal's mind was pain. And lots of it. Being the strong fighter that he is, pain is no stranger to him. But right now, the fact that he felt that he had gone several rounds with Geese and Krauser on steroids meant that he would need several more hours of rest. Before he drifted off again, he saw a small piece of paper which he made out to be some sort of contract. Rugal figured that he must have scored a great deal and ripped off the other party in his usual fashion. Nothing strange there. He gave a drunken chuckle before going back to sleep in the bar's seating area.
'He scored a good deal but we reap the higher benefits,' thought Setsuna Meioh before she closed her view of the drunken fighter from the Time Gates. An opportunity to obtain a strong ally, throwing a man off his plans for global domination and additional subjects (assuming that Adel and his wife-to-be had children) to Crystal Tokyo who would wield power to allow peace to reign for many generations to come. Three birds in one stone.
The meddling had been subtle. All she needed was to nudge the man's brain a little and placing that copy of MacBeth in the right spot at the right time did just the trick. He formulated the plan to hitch his son and just as predicted, he went out for a drink to celebrate his brilliance.
After he had signed the contract, Setsuna took all the legal precautions to make sure that Rugal Bernstein would not be able to worm out of it easily. The only potential problem is Adel but as long as he wasn't pressured to do anything and the natural course of courtship took place, he would not seek a way out of the contract.
And once he had seen what type of person his fiancee was, he wouldn't have any reason to seek a way out of the arranged marriage as the fiancee in question is...
