[Episode 160325] [Episode 160325]Nabiki gasped loudly, sitting up as she flung back the hospital bed's sheets. "What...where am I?"
Confusion etched itself across her face as she looked around the empty room, silence echoing in her ears. Even the EKG machine next to her bed was strangely silent.
She rose from the bed, sheets slipping off her nude form. "Hello? Kikuko, Ryonami, anybody?" Nabiki stepped away from the bed, her lack of dress seeming unimportant, as she moved towards the open door into the hospital corridor.
The air felt heavy as she entered the hallway. "Anyone? Come on, this stopped being funny long before you started."
"Nabiki, is that you?" As Akane stepped out into the hallway from down the hall. "What's going on, where is everybody?" She came closer as she focused her eyes on Nabiki's forehead. "And did you always have those horn ridges?"
Nabiki's hands wandered up to her forehead, fingers tracing over the two ridges of bone horns arching like a second pair of eyebrows. They felt strange, but also like they alway belonged there. "I think so sis, but when did you get the tail?" Pointing down behind Akane.
Akane twisted slightly as she gripped the long flesh colored spade tipped tail that had sprouted from above her firm cheeks, bringing it infront of her, fingers rubbing the skin of her supple tail in a slight confusion.
"Akane, Nabiki? I think somethings wrong outside." Kasumi's voice interupted Akane's reply as both sisters turned towards Kasumi. Their older sister stood facing out the large wall to wall window looking out to the city from on high. Neither girl commented on Kasumi's almost mahogany colored full body tan, or the pair of small vistigial bat-like wings waving gently from her back, as they both came towards the window, looking out.
The entire city of Tokyo streched out infront of the three sisters as a chill wind swept thru them, seperate from their lack of clothing. As they watched, the light seemed to fade out quickly as the shadows swarmed over the city-scape, dark and ominous as they swallowed up the city's lights.
"Something's wrong," Kasumi whispered. "Something is rising, something in the darkness reaching out for our world. Dark, cold. Hungry." She turns towards Nabiki and Akane, unaware of how each girl had locked hands together to try to ward off the chill. "It knows about us, all eleven. And it wants us."
Nabiki felt her breath catch as she looked into Kasumi's eyes, seeing something that she had never seen there before. Fear. Unadulterated fear for her family and for herself. She glanced away from the fear in Kasumi's eyes, only to find herself staring into the pitch black outside the window, unable to shake the knowledge that what ever was out there, was staring into her as well.
