'Man... that was one weird dream.' Uzumaki Naruto gave a loud yawn as he slowly became aware of his surroundings. 'Hm... unfamiliar ceiling... UNFAMILIAR CEILING?!' He bolted out of his futon as those last two words registered in his mind.
The room where he had been sleeping in is by no means the familiar cramped bedroom that he had in his old apartment. There were a number of Shinobi weapons hanging in a glass case on his left side with kunais, shuriken and a few swords. There was a closet directly in front of him which housed his clothes. On his right was a small table with a lamp, his Konoha hitai-ate and a few old pictures of Team 7 and other familiar faces.
'Is this a genjutsu?' Naruto made a seal with his hands and called out "Kai!" but nothing happened. Wait a second... his voice sounded deeper than what he remembered. He looked at himself and saw that he had the body of a young adult around 20 years old. 'How... what... ?' His mind was filled with many questions but because of the confusion, he couldn't formulate them properly.
His confusion was temporarily dissipated as his sense of smell picked up the aroma of breakfast being cooked. With his stomach demanding to be fed, Naruto decided that his first priority would be to take care of his hunger. He could find answers later.
He stepped out of the room into the hallway where there were closed doors on both sides of the wall with the only open door being the one that leads to the bathroom. A few steps away from the bathroom was a staircase that lead to the bottom floor. As he got closer to the aroma, he could hear a pair of voices engaged in an argument. Their tone however suggested little to no malice in their insults.
"You just can't accept the fact that I'm right, can you Ino-pig?"
"Theory is one thing but anything can change when that knowledge is applied to a real life situation. How many times do I have to repeat that to you, forehead girl?!"
'Sakura-chan? Ino-san? What is they doing here?' He quickly increased his pace to step into the kitchen and dining area. The reception that he received was quite out of the ordinary.
"NARUTO!!"
Before he could blink, both Sakura and Ino were at his side, peppering him with questions and offers to make him comfortable. What unnerved him was the amount of adoration and love coming from both of them. He couldn't even get a word in to try and defuse things. In the end, it was the third kunoichi, the one who had been cooking in the kitchen, who took control of the situation.
"Sakura-san, Ino-san... please ease up on Naruto-kun. You know that Tsunade-sama said that part of his memory had been wiped from the last mission and he needs time to get used to the current situation." He looked over and was startled to see Hyuuga Hinata, with longer hair and dressed in clothing that wasn't as baggy as the outfit she had worn as a Genin, plating the large meal that would be consumed by the group.
A quiet "Gomen" was heard from both Ino and Sakura. As Naruto waved it off, he noticed Sakura muttering "Damn Uchiha..." under her breath.
She looked up and gave a gentle smile. "We'll answer all the questions you may have after breakfast. Is that okay, Naruto-kun?" From the way she looked at him, she too had the same amount of love and adoration for him but it was much more restrained.
"Y-yeah... breakfast sounds good." That was as far as he got before someone hugged him from behind. From the two weights pressing into his back, it became obvious that there was a fourth kunoichi involved.
"Ohayo, Naruto-kun!" squealed the voice of...
