The ale wasn't very good, but it was cheap, and plentiful enough to allow Naga to remain 'tipsy' as long as she liked.
...or at least until her money ran out, whichever came first.
It had now been over a month since her 'junior business partner' had vanished inside that chamber. Over a month without Lina's temper, Lina's appetite, or, (most importantly) Lina's uncanny ability to find them jobs or treasures enough wherever they traveled.
She personally thought Lina was quite selfish for getting herself trapped so thoroughly that Naga had to go rescue her.
But, rescuing her rival was turning out to be a bit more difficult that Naga had anticipated. Despite appearances, Naga was quite the scholar when she put her mind to it... but even so, she just could not figure out the last spell Lina used to activate that accursed chamber.
That was why she was now on this 'quest,' as it were.
She and Lina had an unusual relationship... one that was rooted entirely in the here-and-now. Nonetheless, over time, each of them had managed to pick up a tidbit or two of the other woman's past. Naga was certain that Lina had deduced that Naga came from a wealthy family, and she may have dropped that her mother was dead, or that she had a little sister, when she was really into her cups.
As for what Naga had learned of Lina, were two important details. First, that Lina's family lived in Zephilia. And second... that she had an older sister that still intimidated Lina. If Lina's sister was able to cower the petit sorceress even now, than she might have more than enough power and/or knowledge to allow Naga to rescue the errant Inverse.
And when she did...
"OOOH-ho-ho-ho-ho! Lina, you won't cut me out of whatever treasures you've found! OOOOOH-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO!!"
And thus, the tavern was now empty of other patrons.

Meanwhile, a world away, Lina suddenly sneezed, then shuddered.
Jenna looked at her friend with sudden concern. "Are you okay, Lina?"
Lina sniffed, then nodded, "Sorry, just suddenly felt a shiver go down my back..."
