But then the light of an idea came into his eyes. "I know what we should do now!"
"You do?" Soun asked his old friend.
"But, of course! You have to realize that we are going to have to continue on with the sole natural thing here."
"You mean...."
"Certainly. After all, this is supposed to be a successful marriage meeting."
The Tendo patriarch grinned broadly. "It's only natural to make such a choice now."
"Isn't it though."
"I'm sure that my daughters and your son will agree that this has to be done quickly."
"Absolutely."
Nabiki shared a frustrated look with Ranma and her sisters before raising a brow at both fathers. "Might I remind you that we said that it'd be the right thing to wait before making people who'd just met marry?"
"Who said anything about the actual marriage?" Genma asked her.
"Then what are you talking about?"
"The celebration!"
"Eh?"
"It really is quite simple," her father told her. "Since we've settled the fact that one of you girls is going to marry Ranma, we must celebrate the happy occasion!"
"Is that so?" Akane said dryly.
"Absolutely! We'll need food, drinks, and happy talk!"
Frowning ever so slightly, Kasumi looked to her father. "I do believe that we have some nice snacks, tea, and juice...."
"That's good for a start...."
The Saotome Patriarch crossed his arms over his head and nodded sagely. "True, but what we need is alcohol. Sake... beer.... Whatever you have that can be considered liquor!"
"Yeah, right," Ranma muttered resting his face on his right palm as he faced away from his parent. "Ya just wanna find a reason ta get drunk...."
"What was that, boy?"
"Nothin' that ya wanna hear."
"Hhmmm.... I suppose that I can forget that for now. The important thing is to make sure that we you give this time the respect that it deserves. So... drink up, boy!" the elder Saotome declared, sitting down and leaning over so that he could grab his son around the shoulders, shoving a bottle of sake in front of his face.
"Stop it! And where did ya get that drink from?!"
"What does it matter? This is a time to party!"
"Don't you see that doing that's a bit much?" Nabiki idly asked.
"Certainly not. I'm his father, and I know what he can handle. Though I can understand why you would be wanting to protect him."
"Oh, you do, do you?"
"Sure. I am, after all, a man of vast experience, and you are his fiancee. One of them at least. And as I know women, I know that you will want to coddle and defend someone who you care even a little about."
"'Coddle'...."
"Yes. Girls tend to be softer in their emotions, and it looks like you follow that trend. Fortunately, you have people like me, and possibly my son, to make the hard decisions if they are needed."
"You don't know...." the youngest of the sisters began, before Nabiki put her hand on her sister's arm. "Huh?"
"He's not going to understand. But, do one thing for me," the middle Tendo sister asked.
"What?"
"Use him for training."
"You want me to try to learn from... him?"
"No. I want you to find ways to use him like you would a training dummy. Think of it. He might be dumb, but he is strong. You, of all people, could do a lot with that."
Akane seemed interested by the idea. "Like...."
"If you can learn to knock him silly without any chance of being countered, it'll be easier to take on my dear classmate."
"Ooooh.... I like this plan. But won't Ranma mind if I start bashing his dad?"
"Somehow, I don't think that'll be a problem," Nabiki murmured, looking over at how Ranma was whapping his father in the head with his free fist, while:
