Silver Restrike: Radio Ga Ga [Episode 161394]

by Kwakerjak

Jadeite was relaxing in his quarters with a particularly smug look on his face. “Jadeite, you have really outdone yourself this time,” he said to his reflection in a mirror. “This ‘Midnight Zero’ racket is working out even better than I expected! With all of the energy my corsages are draining from all of those hopelessly lovelorn girls, Beryl will be able to take over this planet in practically no time at all, even with Sailor Mars’ interference. And best of all, she’ll have me to thank.”

Beryl was sitting in her throne room, with her four Dark Generals standing at attention before her. After a period of silence, the despot spoke. “Gentlemen, I have some wonderful news. Due to the unforeseen spike in energy acquisition, we shall be able to put our plans for world domination into effect far sooner than anticipated, and we owe it all to the ground-breaking strategies of Jadeite.”

“You don’t need use any unnecessary flattery with me, my Queen,” the blond General humbly replied.

“Jadeite, I do not flatter—I am merely speaking the truth. Your innovative plan to commandeer a radio station and host a program which would prey on the nature of hopeless romantics was sheer genius—I don’t think any of us would have thought to do something like that, especially Kunzite. Tell me, how would you like to be rewarded?”

“Serving you is reward enough, my liege.”

“Your humility is much appreciated, but brilliance of your caliber simply must be compensated. To that end, I’ve decided to restructure this entire organization; from now on, you shall be my second in command, instead of Kunzite, and I shall grant you an increase in power to go along with that post. In addition, I have decided to grant your request and give you control of Europe and all the hot European babes therein when we succeed in taking over the planet.”

The four Dark Generals bowed and watched as Beryl exited the room. As soon as she was out of sight, Jadeite jumped up, clicked his heels and shouted, “Woo! In your face, Kunzite!” To further mock his fellow Dark General, Jadeite proceeded to shake what his momma gave him. “Butt dance, butt daaaaaance….

“Hold on… that’s probably not a good idea. Kunzite would like that.” The thought of the his pale-blue-haired colleague eyeing his hindquarters the same way he eyed Zoicite’s was sent a shiver down his spine. “Ugh… change of plan: when I mock Kunzite, I’m just going to go with pulling down my lower eyelid and sticking out my tongue.”

There was a knock on his door. “Who is it?”

“It’s me, sir,” replied the voice of the youma who was assisting him in this little scheme. “I’ve got today’s batch of fan mail.”

“Perfect. Come on in.” The youma did so, respectfully setting a neatly organized stack of letters on Jadeite’s desk.

“Alright… so who’s the lucky girl tonight?” Jadeite skimmed through the stack of letters, looking for an appropriate victim. “No… no… no… ugh, isn’t that a guy’s name?… no… no… maybe… no… hell no… no… hmmm….” The blonde Dark General stopped and looked at the name on one of the letters. “Naru Osaka… why does that name sound so familiar?”

The youma simply shrugged in reply.

“Hmm… put this letter in the shortlist of candidates for tonight’s show. My instinct tells me this girl is somehow important….”

“Achoo!”

“Are you alright, Naru?”

“No, I’m fine, Usagi.”

“Okay.”

“Say, Usagi, have you heard Midnight Zero?”

That’s rightNaru sent in letter to Jadeites’ radio show….  Usagi decided to approach the subject obliquely. “Midnight Zero… are they a new boy band or something?”

“No, it’s this new radio talk show where girls get advice on how to improve their love lives from the host, Jay Daitou; haven’t you heard about it?”

Usagi continued to feign nonchalance. “Oh, that. Yeah, I’ve heard about it. Sounds kind of silly to me—after all, it’s not like a total stranger could really help you out with problems you have in your love life,” Usagi said, hoping to discourage her friend from repeating her mistake from the first time around.

“I don’t think so,” Naru replied. “A fresh perspective can help you look at things from a new angle. At least, I hope Jay Daitou’s perspective will help me look at things from a new angle.”

This was precisely what Usagi did not want to hear. “Oh, well, good luck, then.” Great. She’s already sent her letter, and I don’t have the time to deal with Jadeite right now. But how could she get in touch with Rei if they technically hadn’t met yet? Then suddenly a possible solution came to her.

Mars?

Yes, Usagi?

Can you get a message about this to Rei while she’s reading the Great Fire?

I can try.

Please do; this needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. Usagi paused before continuing. Do you think she’ll be able to handle a direct confrontation with Jadeite?

I’m sure she’ll be fine… Tuxedo Kamen will be there to help her, right.

Right… I guess…. Usagi ended the conversation as the lunch period ended and she returned to her classroom, but she was still a little worried about the current Sailor Mars.
