Seven days.
That's how long it had been, Jenna thought to herself, since she'd been kidnapped and dragged into this insane quest.
Saturos and Menardi kept pushing the group forward at a relentless pace, insistent on traveling every moment there was sun light, (at least, when they weren't in a town or village.) They were lucky if they could convince the two scaled mars adapts to stop for a half-hour break around mid-day for a quick meal (something Lina complained about to no end, but so far Kraden and herself had kept the water adept from actually fighting the warriors.)
Nonetheless, they had been told that they would be traveling through a cave sometime tomorrow morning, and then they would be in the northern reaches, where it snows all year round. It would take another day to reach a city called Imil... which was built right at the base of the Mercury Lighthouse. They were going to light the lighthouse, and weaken the seal.
And she couldn't do anything about it.
She still had no clue if Isaac or Garet survived. Even though a week had passed, Mt. Aleph still occasionally rumbled, and spat out huge boulders into the sky. Could her friends really have survived that?
And then there was her brother. What was Felix doing with these people? Why hadn't he come home? Why wouldn't he talk to her now... he'd never been exactly the 'talkative' time before, but now he was doing his best to avoid her, and ignoring her when he could not.
Jenna had never felt so helpless in all her life...
