Oh, great.
Talia Gladys reeled against the wall, wondering just why she felt so dizzy. Not to mention disoriented.
"...I..."
You're looking well, Gil. I wish I could say the same for me.
" - I - My condolances for your loss, Talia."
So he knew her husband was dead. Johmmy, who she'd loved more then just a little, even if he wasn't exactly the love of her life...
"...Ah. Thank you."
And now I have to go get my son and tell him his father is dead in person, so please go away, would you, oh ex-boyfriend person? Not that he doesn't know already, but anyway.
"...I'll get you a car. What a second."
Private transpo now? But of course, Gilbert was a big-wig in his own right nowadays...
And it was his car, and she ended up sitting next to him on her way to her parents, where her son was.
"Heard you're going to the Supreme Council next, Gil. Congrats."
"...Thank you. I exist to serve."
"Surely."
......Smiling, ozzing charm. Oh, well, that was Gilbert.
But then, what was this...strange fractured feeling she got, whenever she looked at him?
He looked like a kaleidoscope, fractured patterns in a thousand directions...
She doesn't figure it out to some days later, when for some reason she gets cozened into visiting Gil at his house for old time's sake, and meets a little blond chibi.
It's only then it hits her.
" - My condolaces for your loss, Gilbert."
"...Eh?"
" Rau's dead. Isn't he."
And then he smiles (but he isn't there, not really) and says that Rau had died the way he wanted to (which probably was the truth but that wasn't the point) so it was all right.
And anyway, he has Rey.
"...He's not Rau, Gilbert."
Her words are like leaves on the wind, blown away into nothingness.
I loved you Gilbert, but.
But
But she throws that thought away, because she knows that even if she really had been not second best to Gilbert always, she still would have married Johmmy, for herself.
Neptune is dead and Uranus fractured. The words make no sense, and Talia wonders why she almost feels like crying.
