Setsuna's Fault: Wyrm to Boy [Episode 163486]

by Kestral

The Professor began writing in his notebook, translating what he could of the writings on the nearby sections of cavern for later consideration. Occasionally he glanced at the transformed dragon.

He looked to be a little older than Hotaru, and though he had shapeshifted to human form there were parts of him that still hearkened to his real shape. Little fangs, pointed ears, and the sort of taut lean musculature that indicated he wasn't exactly soft.

His hands crushed rock and cleared it away, and when another slide threw a boulder on top of him - he crushed that as well. It didn't take long for him to clear a passage out for the humans.

He didn't completely trust them, of course. Still - it didn't do him any good to remain here in the cavern. He waited, keeping an eye on the dangerous one - the Senshi.

The last remaining barrier was passed. He could only have gotten through it with the aid of a Senshi if he didn't want to bring the entire mountain down. As a village had been built into a section about seven hundred years ago, and he'd gotten rather fond of it, he'd prefer to avoid such a thing.

He'd been active astrally. All three of the dragons had been, as he could tell from the occasional meeting of their minds. At first they'd been ghostly presences, then one after the other had improved their skills to the point where they couldn't be seen and eventually even cloaking their presence entirely.

He had seen spiritual leaders and political ones, and he'd seen those who struggled to become great and those who had accepted their lot in life. There had been good people, bad people, and just plain people. He'd observed great philosophers through the ages, scientists unlocking the workings of the universe, and those who quietly assisted. He'd listened to music which had stirred his soul and seen art that had touched his heart.

He had been alive, after all, for over 10,000 years. You got to see a lot of things in that time, though his physical body had been chained inside this mountain.

He rubbed his neck and stretched as they came at last into the sunlight. Ten thousand years can give one SUCH a crick in the neck.

"Well, where to?" asked the father. His name was "Professor" as Ranma recalled. "There's a village over there."

"I've seen it," said the transformed dragon.
