Shinn Asuka ran, his sister and his parents running ahead. The nature park they were running through had suddenly and nightmarishly turned into a warzone, with Mobile Suits circling each other in the grey and blue sky, like birds of prey...
"Aaah...Mayu's mobile!"
His sister shrieked as her pink mobile phone went hurtling down the slope. Damn, damn, it would probably be faster to just get the damn thing but -
"I'll get it, I'll get it, just go!"
"No, I'll get it, you go!"
Shinn saw his sister clambering down the slope after him, and would have shrieked if there was any time for that kind of thing. Idiot is thee, little sister mine...
The blast threw both of them hurtling down the knoll, into a brook. Mayu's ankle was twisted, as was Shinn's wrist.
Of their parents, there was barely enough left to run a genescan afterwards. What they buried under their graves eventually was mostly dirt, though not all.
Shinn and Mayu eventually did go to PLANT, and both of them ended up joining ZAFT, though Shinn would have prefered his sister didn't. He did make a minor name for himself as the most over-protective big brother in the ZAFT Academy in his year.
War eventually did come again, but that was another story.
"Shin. Shiiinnnn. Oniichan, just what are you looking at?"
"...My brand new spanking Red Coat?"
Mayu Asuka sighed, then.
"You made Redcoat. You really made Redcoat. ...I can't believe it."
"Well, yeah, neither could Rey."
Mayu perked up a bit at the mention of Rey Za Burrel. Damn, damn, if her brother's roomie wasn't cute...
Shin noticed that, and scowled. His little sis was too young to be making starry eyes about anybody, much less somebody he knew personally! Well, she'd always had crushes on actors and singers and such, but that was different.
"Rey. Isn't. Coming."
"Oh, c'mon, Oniichan...Ah, I know, I'll ask Lunamaria-senpai, or Meyrin!"
...Shin sighed. He couldn't win.
"Mayuuu. Come on, I'm going to be going to Armory One the day after tomorrow..."
"So we could all have lunch in a group or something. And then go shopping..."
Shin shuddered. A group date which wasn't, with siblings in tow.
Lunamaria would kill him. - Well, maybe not...she was a girl, and girls usually liked to shop around, so...
Hmmmmmmmmmm...
The Not Really A Group Date was actually a fair success, all things considered. Rey and Mayu shopped around mostly for hair products, Lunamaria and Meyrin for clothes, and Shin was the donkey.
It could have been worse, Shin Asuka reminded himself grimly.
