Two tall cloaked figures stood peering into a swirling vortex before them. Long gangly arms gestured and pointed wildly as they argued.
“Interesting….. in this reality he dies, and the dark one rises to power bringing forth a rule of law and order…”
“True brother dear, but its inhabitants are unhappy and a mere decade later he must maintain his rule by slaughtering rebels, even one he has to invent to create….Hardly efficient… Now take this alternate where the light one wins, the inferior animals live happy and free…”
“Yes and when the next dark lord rises they are completely lazy and self indulgent, requiring some new prophesied hero to come and eventually one will fail. Obviously this side of ‘good’ and ‘light’ is weaker.”
“Nonsense brother, its obvious that it’s the ‘evil dark’ that is the losing proposition….”
“GOOD LIGHT!”
“DARK EVIL!”
The two beings glared at each other and one made a move to strike.….. Until a third appeared suddenly.
“Brothers! Brothers! We are superior beings….. such barbaric physicality is for inferior animals…” The third cautioned. “Obviously this trivial debate over the petty ideals of such lower life forms is clouding your minds.”
“Perhaps you are right brother, but still the question remains… which is better? Dark evil, or Good light?” inquired the being, as the three stood in their cloaks surrounding the viewing portal.
“Hmmm…well take a look at this reality… this… Babylon 5…. Look at these Shadows and Vorlons, despite their inferior nature they do have a good idea. Although their pitiful intellect screwed it up in the end….”
The two arguing beings stroked, something under the dark expanses of their hoods as they leaned closer. “Hmm… are you suggesting brother?”
“Yes I see… getting inferior species to decide the debate. Truly it is a worthwhile idea. One could almost think they were worthy to be peers of our own… Well they would be if they hadn’t proven they were unworthy of such respect by actually being beaten by the other animals….”
“Hmm.. to true brother… still if we took that concept, we would obviously succeed where lower life forms have failed. Yes, such a experiment would be perfect. Get some lower animals to decide the point as to whether good or evil is superior. “
“Of course brothers to ensure a successful experiment we would have to be involved directly with such animals.” The three beings shuddered in revulsion. “One for good, one for evil, and one as a control. Still there remain a few difficulties. While it is obvious that we three are far to advanced to be tricked and overcome by such primitives, our subjects may still choose not to participate at all. After all such primitive beings are unlikely to recognize the significance of such a debate we are trying to resolve.”
“Hmm… once we choose our subjects…I’m sure we can find methods to …..persuade… them to participate if they do refuse….” The being that had been arguing in favor of good replied, striking a smug pose. “Family, friends, their planets… should prove fertile incentives don’t you agree brothers?”
The other two nodded, and the Evil one turned to the portal waving its hand. Instantly the screen separated showing several different humans. “Hmm I suppose we should select the teams than? A random sampling of different realities would prove best I think…..”
“Yes I do believe that is a wise choice…. Let us start with this group here…..”

Ranma groaned in pain as he opened his eye. “Ugh… what happened…One minute I was heading to school, than there was some hooded guy and a flash of light….”
He glanced up and his eyes widened, noting the strange sky, in particular the faint silhouette of TWO moons set just below the sun. As if to emphasize that he wasn’t in Nerima anymore, a fuzzy squirrel like creature flew past his head on rainbow colored dragon wings.
“Ah man…this must be how P-chan feels…. Where the hell am I?” Ranma grumbled out loud turning around, not really expecting a response.
Thus he jumped in shock as eh got one, a low moan rising from a hill nearby. Heading over Ranma blinked as he saw…
