Getting beaten up by his master, getting beaten up by those his master had left him to deal with, great stomach aches from overeating on stolen food, and killer hangovers from cheap liquor had only been some of the things that had shaped his ability to deal with pain.
And there was that little work that he'd put into using the admittedly large talent that he had for the Art too.
This was a bit different though, as he was literally bent backwards, twisted, and generally in an uncomfortable position. He would have straightened out, but he was just waiting to be certain that those ruffians were gone. One picked their battles, after all, and his need to stay still in this position wasn't about his inability to move out of the shape that he was in.
So... of course he was just unable to even shift himself, and so he could only hope that whatever was going to be awaiting him when he got out would be nicer than what he was going through.
The gorilla men's first choice had been a lucky one for Genma, as they had initially wanted him as far away from them as possible. Sending him to the Village of Arctic Foxwomen would do that, since they lived on Antarctica. So, either he'd be forced to chant sutras all day, or he'd be stuck with a group of shaggy individuals who didn't tend to bathe too often.
Sure, it was not going to be permanent, but it would not be a pleasant trip for him.
The arrival of the Tribals had been a major event across the whole world. Many different nations had their own alien residents, and that had become something of an identifying sign as to what sort of place an area was like. Some places had plenty of aliens living there, and some wouldn't let a single one visit.

There were plenty of other individuals who could trace their ancestral path into space, and a lot of different types of Tribals lived in that one area. A lot of different, and occasionally odd ideas came up in that area, but there were plenty of spaceborne lineages who called that city their home town.
And in it at the moment was a group of people who were unaware of the fact that their lives were different than what they had once been. That meant that they didn't know that, had the Tribals not come, they would have had lives like in:
