"Hey, what are you doing?" Ranma turned around. In all her confusion, she didn't even notice that Naru had returned.
"Hey, where... where is the corridor?" Ranma stammered.
Naru frowned. "Which corridor?"
"The... the one with the kerosene lamps and... and the man with the..."
"Kerosene lamps? Ranma this is a modern airport. You wouldn't find any kerosene lamps in the entire building. And this is only a room with equipment for the cleaning ladys. Are you all right?" She put her hand to Ranma's forehead. "Nope, no fever!"
Ranma brushed her hand aside. "I'm perfectly fine, but there WAS an old corridor with a man in a trenchcoat. And he carried a knife!"
"Let me guess, he was the same guy who wanted to kill you aboard the plane, right?" Naru shook her head.
"I know what I've seen," Ranma muttered angrily.
"Well, okay... we've got more important matters to talk about. Ranma... You know that you're in trouble, right?"
"In trouble? What do you mean?"
"Ranma isn't really your real name, isn't it? It's Amnar, am I right?" When Ranma didn't answer, she nodded. "As I thought! The authorities in Germany have been looking for you. You ran away from a youth center, right?"
Ranma stayed silent. She knew about Amnar's story by now and that she would be in that kind of trouble, but she really didn't have the time to deal with authorities.
"And what if I did?" she finally asked.
Naru sighed. "Look, Ran... Amnar! If you really are underage, you just can't sneak out of the youth center or take a plane to Tokyo without contacting the adults that are currently responsible for you and your actions. I want you to know that someone from the youth welfare office in Tokyo is waiting for you - outside!"
"Thanks, but I really think I want to leave on my own."
"Don't be silly! Do you really think she came here alone?"
"The police, right?" Ranma asked.
"Amnar, this really is only for your own good..."
"No, thank you! And by the way... I think I'll have to turn down your offer for some cocoa - see ya!"
And after saying these words, Ranma quickly picked up her things and ran out of the room, Shampoo close on her heels. Behind her he could hear Naru's voice: "Amnar, come back!" but she didn't stop.
They ran down a corridor, slipped past a few staff members and reached the stairs.
While running down, Shampoo asked: "Ranma, don't you think it would be better to just talk to the police?"
"And tell them what? That I'm really a visitor from another reality that needs to find some magical girls and their princess? Or that I'm seeing corridors that shouldn't even exist? No, thank you!"
They reached the bottom floor and ran out into the entrance hall of the airport. Ranma looked around - and saw a couple of policemen standing near the main exit. A young woman with blue hair and a suitcase was with them.
"Looks like we can't go that way," Ranma muttered. Hastily, she looked around the hall and ran towards one of the side corridors, hoping that the police or the young woman wouldn't see her.
But he had bad luck. One of the policeman just happened to look her way and with a quick shout, he alarmed his partner. Ranma looked back over her shoulder and saw the two policemen run after her.
She cursed. She reached the corridor, bumped against a man and continued around the corner.
"Stop that girl," one of the policemen shouted. But luckily, no one else appeared that could have stopped Ranma.
Suddenly, a voice called: "Hey, red-head! Come this way!"
A black-haired boy, not much older than himself, appeared out of another corridor and grabbed Ranma's arm. "Quick! They're almost here!"
Ranma didn't know the boy, but she'd rather take her chances with him than with the police. So she and Shampoo followed him as he guided them through another hallway.
"There! See that emergency exit?"
Ranma nodded and headed for the door. The boy opened it, but before Ranma could go outside, he grabbed her and shoved her into a nearby door. He hurried after her and quickly closed the door. Shampoo managed to slip past the closing door just in time.
The boy put his ear on the door. "Surely they will think you have gone outside, with the door open and all." He snickered. "Idiots! They always fall for that!"
Ranma looked around. They were in an empty room, with no other exit. She wanted to say something, but then they heard footsteps and voices.
"Where did she go?"
"The door! She must be outside! Quickly, before she gets away!"
The strange boy snickered again. "Looks like they're gone, but let's wait for a while to be sure. Don't worry, they never search in here. This room is supposed to be locked."
"Thanks for the help, I guess," Ranma said. "But... who are you and why did you help me?"
"Call me...
