Instead, she simply made the best of it. She found a nice position near the bow of the boat and slid to a sitting position so that she could look out at the ocean. It wasn't hard to admit that such scenery was actually quite lovely, and she found that she could watch the water for long periods of time. Being out there like that, with the refreshing sea breezes sliding across her face, was actually rather soothing.
Not that she had to give it up anytime soon. With a Japanese husband, whom she had legally married in that nation, she had a legitimate reason to return to that country. There was no need for her to sneak about, since Nabiki had found out the basics of what laws would affect a marriage between a couple where one person was not Japanese. Of course, it wasn't an absolute thing, but they'd managed to get enough information to be secure in her ability to go back and forth as she needed to.
So, all that she had to do was to sit on the ship and relax. If the sailors happened to want to leer a little bit at her as she sat with her long legs stretched out in front of her, that was fine. They could imagine all that they wanted, as she was a married woman, with only her husband being the one who she'd trade kisses with.
Luckily, she would soon be back in Japan, and would more than likely be back with Ranma soon after that. She could see friends, and have a chance to actually reunite with her beloved Ranma. Then maybe they could be together like a wife and husband should be, though with the idiocy of her father-in-law, she wasn't too sure as to how simple things would go after the reunion. All that she did know was that the man was a moron, and that she didn't have much respect for him.
She just wondered what he might have dragged her husband in at that particular moment, and wished that she could be together with Ranma right at that instant.
For many people, dinner with friends one hadn't seen in a long while was supposed to be a time to enjoy and relax. It was a time to share each other's company, and find that companionship from the time before the parting had happened. Good food would be served, but would be part of a joining of spirits that happened only when those involved really knew each other.
There wasn't supposed to have a pair of drunk men trying to grab food and eating what they did manage to get rather sloppily.
"This is so embarrassing...." Akane sighed to herself.
Kasumi gave a wan little smile. "At least they're enjoying themselves, right?"
"That's about all that they are doing," Nabiki murmured dryly, leaning her chin onto one palm as she stirred the food in her bowl with her chopsticks in her other hand. "But you don't seem to mind it, Ranma."
"If you've seen it enough, ya learn ta ignore it. Otherwise ya don't eat, 'cause it ain't like they are gonna really stop if ya watch 'em," he commented in between bites.
"Ahhh. That's perfectly reasonable."
"Experience teaches really good."
Akane snorted, and gave the two fathers a disgusted look as she picked up her own bowl.
"I do hope that they don't try to lay in the miso again," Kasumi commented softly as she began to eat, while:
