The mist swirled around in a cloud of mystery. The time gates loomed above the shroud, ancient and proud, as it Guardian worked diligently in her task. Sailor Pluto stood before the gates with her forehead scrunched up in concentration, her focus completely on her delicate task.
“Come on….come on…careful… just a little bit more, almost got it…. YES! The platinum edition of Disgaea 4! Complete with Laharl dating sim! It’s mine at last MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!” Setsuna cackled as she pulled the copy of a game from the future out of the time stream. Setsuna just considered stealing future video game systems as one of the few perks that came with her lonely duty.
As she turned to her advanced gaming station, a slight shudder went through her being. Frowning slightly she put down her recently purloined acquisition and took up her staff.
“Something’s wrong…..” Setsuna muttered as she quickly glanced through the time stream, looking far into the future. Her frown deepened as she watched the image of a gleaming palace flicker and waver before her eyes. “Something’s threatening Crystal Tokyo, I’d better find out what and fast.”
Hours passed as Sailor Pluto scanned up and down the time stream, searching frantically for the threat to the utopian future. Eventually she managed to narrow it down to a very specific afternoon, just outside of the Juuban high sports field. Idly she noted that Usagi was just coming up to bat at an after school ball game being played there during the time where the deviation was to occur.
However, much to her frustration Pluto could not seem to discover what or who exactly altered the timeline away from Crystal Tokyo. Finally she let out a low scream of frustration.
“Argh….it’s impossible… Whatever enemy is doing this obviously can not be seen by the time gate. I’m going have to do this old fashioned way and investigate personally. And just when I was going to have some free time to.” With a growl of annoyance, Sailor Pluto teleported away.

Makoto smirked on the pitchers mound as she saw Usagi nervously step up to bat. “Don’t think I’ll go easy on you!”
From the batters box, Minako stood and cheered on her friend. “Don’t let Mako-chan scare you Usagi! Hit one straight into the sewers!”
Several of the girls playing the game blinked trying to figure out what Minako meant. As a result they all missed the arrival of Setsuna in her guise as the school counselor. None of them even took notice as she began to look around the area intently, searching for something.
“Here it comes Usagi!” Makoto yelled as she wound up and let fly a powerful fastball. Usagi squeaked in shock, having been distracted by Minako’s cheering. ON instinct she swung her bat as hard as she could, and was shocked when her hands went numb as it contacted cleanly with the ball.
Usagi opened her eyes and watched as the ball sped swiftly away from her, just on the outside of the foul line heading straight for….
“SETSUNA LOOK OUT!!!” Several of the watching Inners yelled out.
Setsuna quickly whirled around with her Henshin pen in hand, expecting to face some monster that had threatened the future of Crystal Tokyo. Instead what she saw was a small spheroid object approaching her at an incredible rate of speed, but she only saw that for a second. After that there was a big flash of light, numerous stars, and then utter darkness…..

“You know, Setsuna called us earlier about a possible new threat appearing here. Never thought it would be you princess.” Haruka teased as she leant against her car.
“WAAAAAH!!! I KILLED SETSUNA-CHAN!!!” Usagi wailed, as Ami and Hotaru knelt next to the unconscious senshi of time. Makoto and Michuru were currently busy holding back Minako, who had somehow managed to change into a nurse’s outfit complete with medical bag. The ball pin hammer sticking out of said bag that Minako claimed was for testing reflexes was just one of many reasons why the two considered this the more important task.
“Well she’s breathing alright, although her eyes appear slightly dilated. I think she’s just unconscious.” Ami pronounced after a moments examining. “Doesn’t seem to be much more than a bruise on her forehead and Hotaru-chan can clear that up. Let’s get her inside and onto the nurse’s bed. I suspect she’ll be just fine after a little rest.”
Sadly Ami was mistaken in her diagnosis. Unknown to her and the other Senshi the impact of the ball upon Setsuna forehead had shaken up her mind. Synapses fired at random while she was unconscious, with the end result being that when she awakened later in the school’s infirmary….
