On the other hand, she didn't like his father, and wouldn't change that stance any time soon.
Not that Genma was realizing that at the moment. He merely took in the way that she was snapping up her leg to send a kick at his head as a good sign. "Your father really must have taught you well."
"Is that so?" she growled as she sent punches into his side that made thudding noises.
"But of course. You obviously know to take even sparring seriously."
"You think that, do you?"
"Absolutely. Your hits may leave marks," he told her even as he dodged her jabs only to get hit in the jaw with an elbow, "but this way builds focus for when you have real fights."
"And here I thought that I was really doing it...."
"Oh, that's quite understandable, for your skill level."
Her hands tightened so much that her knuckles popped. "My 'skill level'?"
"Yes. You do have plenty of strength and direct speed, but your agility and reaction times are too slow, girl."
"How interesting...."
"Honestly, I only tell you this for your own good. You have gotten some good hits in, but the fact of the matter is that you aren't quite strong enough to beat someone like me. Fortunately, this is only sparring, and we don't have to try and test that idea," Genma stated, and sent a series of kicks and punches that had her backing up.
"So you're only telling me this out of the goodness of your own heart, are you?"
"I just thought that it might make you better than you are right now."
"Well then, let's see if we can't do something about that."
"That's the spirit! What do you want to do about it, girl?"
"First off, my name is Akane, and second, I'm going to do...." she began.
He blinked in confusion as she grabbed his arm. "Huh?"
"THIS!" she yelled, and did an over the shoulder flip that sent her father's friend slamming into the floor with such force that the wooden boards shattered under him.
Akane dusted off her hands and smirked. "Now, that makes me feel better. And just so you know, I think that it'd be best to continue on like this."
"Eh?"
"Glad that you agree," she said brightly... and then kicked him so that he went flying to bounce off the wall like a pinball.
By this moment, Genma wondered if she sparred with everyone this way.
Finding her husband was proving to be less than easy to accomplish, and Needle was not at all surprised by that fact. Having already seen how fast he could run, she realized that he wasn't exactly someone who could be raced after. It didn't seem that he even ran in one direction, as he seemed to just disappear from the planet with the way that he could make a seemingly odd turn at a moment's notice.
On the other hand, she didn't plan on giving up. She just had to figure out where to find her husband. At least he was rather unusual, because it made him hard to forget, even by those who had barely come across him. The fact of the matter was that a Japanese teenager in China was rather unusual.
A stray thought hit her, and she pursed her lips as she considered it. Her spouse was Japanese, and if he was from another land, it was entirely possible that he might want to return there. He might not show up for a long while, but if she were to be there before he was, then maybe she could catch up with him. Making it that way might cause her some trouble, since there were a lot of boys his age in Japan, but the fact of the matter was that he wasn't exactly someone who would 'blend in'. And he would be running to her, instead of away from her.
With that possible plan, she began trying to figure out just how useful it would be, while:
