Chained World - Rei: Different Arrival [Episode 167951]

by Kestral

Things were very different here, if one compared Ranma's original world with this one.

Rei was his slavegirl, one of a clone series that GEHERN Corp had experimented with. That HIS Rei had a will to live and some emotional depth if still a bit quiet - this was a big thing.

Rei was becoming more powerful too. She had some pretty strong psychic capabilities, though she kept them hidden from the Watchers. Every time one of her fellow Rei let herself go, disassociating with her physical form to merge with the others, the others grew that much more in strength.

Rei listened, learned, and her calm red eyes took in far more than anyone guessed.

Soun Tendo had several slavewives and had had several children. Due to a few financial mistakes, he had lost both but now had gathered the children back so that the Saotome-Tendo arrangement could yet be done with the help of a financial manager named Kanno.

Asuka Langley Soryuu and her mother had ended up in a factory in Germany, after her mother's death - Asuka had gotten a little brittle and had ended up being used in a brain-stamp experiment at the University Of Munich. She'd been a cheap buyout, minor Mamluk training and some pilot/driver skills.

Kasumi had been working for the Kagoshima Hilton for several years. Trained as a maid, a cook, and she'd just passed her exam as a Domestic, 2nd Class. She was quiet and demure, for the most part, but Soun was afraid she might have picked up some bad habits. Just suspicions now, nothing that he could point to specifically...

Soun was also concerned about Nabiki because after she'd gotten a set of disciplinary marks at the Trader Vic's she'd been working at - there had been some personality adjustment. She tended to be a bit of an exhibitionist and a little bit more mercenary than he remembered her.

As for Akane, he hoped Genma's son was strong and would arrive soon. She'd been a general laborer, caused problems, and eventually ended up a pit slave fighter for the Yakuza. Her life in Noboribetsu had left its marks on her. Thin scars crisscrossing her skin, a few areas with the ripple of burned flesh healed over, two tattoos that she'd received as marks of favor. Of course, she'd also fallen out of favor which had seen the third such tattoo, but if she hadn't fallen out of favor he'd have had trouble buying her back.

Marks of Martial Arts Calligraphy tattooed into place. Eye Of The Tiger and Crossed Swords - two "gifts" that allowed her to gauge an opponent's strength and to toughen herself against weapons. The Crossed Swords had been added after she'd gotten a particularly bad slice. When she'd given into her rage against her captors they'd branded her with a slavebrand to control her. The Leash.

That still hadn't been enough, and she'd been beaten down through psychological means eventually.

Soun didn't know much about this. He suspected some at least.

There was Shampoo who had gone through much the same as Akane, except that she had been a waitress at the Hard Rockem Cafe (a chain of restaurants staffed with fighting waitresses) and had been involved in more legal battles than the other kind.

"Good news everyone," said Soun, going from one to the other. He found Akane in the dojo, Kasumi and Shampoo in the kitchen, Nabiki sewing a new costume together, Asuka apparently just watching the rain, and finally he found:
