It was Typhon, the destroyer, the Titan of Destruction.
"That is one of the ugliest monsters I've ever seen," said Green Arrow.
"It is Typhon," said Wonder Woman, letting out a deep breath and visibly settling herself.
"This is going to be difficult," agreed Captain Marvel.
"So, uhm, what are we waiting for?" asked Green Arrow, who wasn't too anxious to get closer himself. A trick arrow wasn't likely to be very effective in this instance.
"Backup, reinforcements, assistance," said Zatanna. "I've sent out a spell to summon them to this spot."
"That explains the boy with the big sword and dog ears," said Batman, looking at where a boy in a red outfit had a girl in a sailor-style fuku in a fireman's carry.
Legends. He was surrounded by legends.
Ranma Saotome focussed almost exclusively on the martial arts, it was his strength and area of expertise. If someone was famous for fighting skills, he certainly knew of them.
Following the odd pull on his senses he'd come out into a shopping plaza that had apparently been chosen for a strategic position and good view of the oncoming monster. Then he'd found himself facing legends that he'd never met.
Batman. Someone who embodied the Anything Goes approach in some respects, and was capable of holding his own against beings far more powerful through cunning and skill.
Wonder Woman, who was reputed to know martial arts that had been lost to centuries and was stronger than Ryoga with a mad on.
The rest of them he didn't know immediately. Their exploits weren't the sort of thing he followed too closely or would remember. If it involved martial arts, maybe.
Ranma Saotome didn't lose. In a martial arts battle against anything of his level, and even then he was an exceptional martial artist.
He was betting that if he could spar with Batman or Wonder Woman, he could figure out new angles and insights into the Art without fail.
It was odd for him, but he was feeling something that for him was a very rare experience. Awe.
Then he glanced in the direction of what they were obviously here to fight, and another rare experience made itself clear. Fear. Yes, he was scared of Kodachi and of Akane's cooking (or at least wary) and of c-c-c those fuzzy things with the teeth and claws. This was a completely rational fear however. Kodachi was unlikely to kill him, at least intentionally. Akane's cooking could cause him to have explosive diarrhea and spewing liquid from every available orifice. Those c-c-ca- things, he realized that wasn't exactly a rational fear as he could kick their little furry behinds if it came down to it. Fearing THAT thing was something else altogether.
And apparently it was coming this way. He was glad he'd left Akane behind, he couldn't have handled it if she'd seen him shaking like this.
"Surface temperature, well over three thousand degrees," said someone nearby. "Looks like the rain is formed of a combination of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid along with a few other compounds."
"Soul of ice," muttered Ranma, trying to summon it up. Or at least calm down.
Hmmm. That guy and gal over there looked relatively normal and the gal was wearing a school uniform. Maybe he ought to go say hello and see if they knew what was going on.
