Oh, and all the creeps - dangerous, more dangerous, and toxic waste level - that he seemed to attract regularly, of course. He'd used to think that it was the "like attract like" principle in action, till he realized that even ole' "Lordy" Djibril - who was now Lord Lord Djibril now that he'd actually inherited a minor title from some aunt or something, megods, what kind of parents actually gave their child the first name "Lord", anyway - oh, wait, he knew what kind already, there were some people even he just didn't want to think about, that's all - well, anyway, even ole Lordy wasn't creepy enough to attract all of them.
Not to mention that if Muruta was alive, he'd just laugh and say he was one of those Lordy seemed to unexplainably draw to him, too. Ew.
Yuuna Roma Seiran sighed, then. Damn, he missed Muruta Azrael. Even if he had been pretty damn crazy, towards the end.
...At least he could throw a better party then this, for one thing... It seemed utterly impossible to explain to the old fuddie-duddies sometimes that parties didn't have to be boring, boring and more boring.
Even LOGOS parties. Did they have no idea just how all the subtle and not-so-subtle intimidation desensisized everybody eventually, anyway?
Yuuna sighed. Well, he had to look at the rainbow instead of the rain clouds - most of the Seiran family's main assets were still intact, at least he and his father had been able to "convince" Muruta into talking the EA forces attacking Orb into taking most of them off the target list - and...
And the Lion of Orb, Uzumi Nala Athha, was dead. Which - wasn't such a good thing, all things considered. For Orb, that is.
Even though the thought that he'd never have to see Lord Uzumi put down his father without a word spoken aloud did raise his spirits, somewhat. If only you'd managed to break that habit of only speaking to my father properly, like you actually acknowledged his existence maybe, when you needed his "connections, "Uncle Uzumi"... Did you want to make use of my father - and my - "connections", LOGOS and otherwise, or didn't you?
Oh, he knew the answer to that, of course - only when it was convenient, and only if he could get the Seirans to get their hands dirty, is that it now? Deniablity, right, right, right.
But still, Lord Uzumi been a charismatic leader and a first rate statesman, not to mention capable of playing politics like a dulcimer, and his loss really was Not A Good Thing for Orb In General, in his honest opinion. Not that he could really get away with saying that to anybody here, of course.
And then, there was the Cagalli situation.
And the Cagalli's bodyguard situation.
"Alex Dino", riiiight.
Alright, so Cagalli being not-dead was very good, yes, yes, he was biased, he knew - but all those complications -
Yuuna sighed, then.
The man talking somewhere in front of him - it sounded more like ranting, but that particular man often sounded like that - blinked, and started making his way over to him. Uh, oh...
Maybe he shouldn't have been drinking so much of those cocktails...
"Seiran. Yuuna. Is anything wrong?"
"No Lordy... Um, Lord. Lord Lord Djibril. Is your father around someplace, so I can throw something at him?"
The man known as Lord Djibril twitched and looked around, eyes wide.
"I hope not, and there are somewhat less painful ways to suicide if you must go that route. ...You're drunk, aren't you."
"...Probably. - Oh. Is it true they're gonna put you in charge of - "
The round spinning hand-gesture he made was LOGOS younger-set gesture short-hand for Blue Cosmos. Djibril twitched again.
" - Stop that. Probably. We'll see."
"...Alright, then."
Yuuna sighed, again.
"You need to take a break, Seiran."
Djibril was the one that sighed, then.
"...Here. Hold my cat."
Is not cat, Lordy.
The chain coiled around his arm, gamely purring.
Chains that appeared out of nowhere, check. Chains that moved on there own accord, another check. Chains that seemed to be invisible to almost everybody who saw them, triple check.
But chains which pretended to be a cat?
"...Ahh, Yuuna... Yuuna?"
"Oh, father. What is it?"
Unato looked at him.
"You're drunk. Come. ...Ahhh."
The chain meowed. (Is a cutecat!)
"Just why did Djibril's boy hand you his cat, anyway?"
...And it presumably made pretty much everybody else think they - it - was a cat, too, it seemed.
"Moral support, I think. Um, I'd better go give it back..."
Not that he could think it could actually get lost, being connected to Lordy and all...
"We'll get somebody else to - No, I'll hand it back, you stay here."
Yuuna watched his father do just that, blearily.
"Where are you going, Yuuna. Your room isn't..."
"The gardens. The inner gardens. I want to see the stars."
"It's too cloudy, Yuuna..."
"That's alright. The stars see everything, anyway."
"...Yuuna..."
"They do."
I sometimes wish they didn't, papa. But they do.
