Setsuna's Fault: Civet-ilization [Episode 168492]

by Kestral

The road to civilization had no maps or guides provided. The nature of the beast also had an effect on the civilization itself.

Three out of four felidae erectus were female. Prides were the normal family grouping, with prides forming clans forming tribes forming nations as civilization began developing.

Enter the Ice Age. Temperatures plummeting in many areas, forcing species to evolve at a faster rate. Eventually this caused felidae erectus to split into three main branches.

Felidae Gunnari so called by "modern civilization" because the first remains were found near the town of Gunnar. Big hulking figures with low brows, cranial ridges, strong muzzles, and thick claws. Not terribly smart and incapable of the intricacies of civilized language, they survived in the tough times by raiding other groups.

Felidae Cromagnon the species which adapted to the conditions by developing their tool-using and tool-making skills. These would become the group that the Gunnari most often raided.

Felidae PreManori the group which would become the Manori people. This group fled the ice and spread across the Pacific Islands, becoming the little people and a distinct race.

In time these latter two developed further while the Gunnari eventually died out. During this time the Moon Kingdom refugees entered the solar system, and discovered the two surviving races. The refugees looked human, while the Felidae Cromagnon was not and the diminuitive Felidae Manori were even less close.

The catfolk were hairy but not furry, with distinct muzzles and tails and claws. Their culture had developed around a code of personal honor and allowed for duels as a release valve for their violence. When the refugees arrived, they were at the point where they were just beginning to explore the development of a warrior philosophy as the basis for a religion.

Before they knew it, the Silver Millenium had become the first organized system regarding gods. They looked so different with their flat faces and slender hairless forms that they couldn't be anything else, right?

Interbreeding was unlikely with species so dissimilar.
