Some weren't even there to see Ranma, they were after an archmage archlich!
Some were there to teach Ranma, some were there to study the magic woven through his being, and some were there to spy on the others showing up.
Ranma didn't care, he quickly learned to use things and set up for tea and guests and similar things because Konidor often didn't keep track of such things.
There were those who ended up crossing his path who resembled people who might have been in another realities altogether, echoes of sort.
Such duplicates weren't uncommon as things went. For example there were at least 23,402 versions of an inept sailing lad named Gilligan on various realities. There was even one on Toril, who worked for a Jonas Grumby and they went on tours and did trade transport from the Moonshae to Lantan. And, as happened in at least 22,500 of those timelines, they took seven passengers on a small cruise and ended up getting shipwrecked. Fortunately for Ranma's sanity, he didn't even come close to the Moonshaes and therefore it was unlikely he'd be one of the seven.
(Oddly enough, the seven ended up on a small island SW of Chult on an island operated by a Mad Sorcerer, but that's another tale altogether. It was an odd grouping as well, a farmgirl from Gwynneth of the Moonshaes, a sage from Lantan, two merchants from Calimshan, a minstrel from Waterdeep, as well as the Skipper and his inept companion. Yes, it's just as well that Ranma stayed far far away from this group.)
Of course, villains as well as heroes as well as others could end up being reflected in such a manner, and sometimes the role differed wildly from plane to plane.
