"World Shaking!"
A*0-1 made her force-field flicker away from the energy blast, and counter-blasted again. Damn it, she should be able to do stuff like absorb some of that energy, but -
No. There was a time to improvise, and a time to just stick to the basics. Life with a certain Saotome Genma had managed to teach her that much, at least -
"You know Overkill dearest, it's a bit odd that you keep being blown away by my most basic attacks, don't you think? You trying to be tricky or what?"
A*0-1 huffed, not that she was actually using oxygen now in her current form, and decided not to comment on the utter insanity of Uranus channeling what seemed to be the entire amount of energy she was getting from that lifeless hunk of a planet she happened to be linked to now into a fardeling "World Shaking".
Though considering the nonsense Uranus'd been sprouting about "Senshi powers primarily coming from their own Starseeds" or whatnot, maybe she believed she could afford to do that - what she was doing would make sense if she considered "her" planets energies to be some kind of "extra", not her primarily energy source.
A*0-1 twitched, then, wondering if Kina - well, ex-Kina - could actually be right about that, partially, anyway. Most Senshi died or went into some kind of coma or stasis when their planets or whatever they where Linked to died, (well, unless they'd been "thralled" to Galaxia with those damn bracelets - uh, bad thoughts! - or something, that is) but not all, she did know that. And -
Ahh. Yes. A*0-1 gave Uranus a cold, cold smile, feeling a certain set of memories starting to raise to the surface of her mind.
" - You freak."
A*0-1 hissed.
Uranus blinked. "Eh, what's that, Overkill?"
"You're not the only one who's been remembering odds and ends, Kina. Why didn't you die when your planet did?"
Uraus smirked coldly, then. A*0-1 stared.
How could anybody remember their planet dying, and smile?
"Which one, darling? Oh, I was comatose and stasis'd and drifting about for a while, the first time, I do remember that, but -"
"You should have gone back to the Calderon then, you."
Uranus seemed actually nonplussed at that.
"The Caulderon. I didn't know you belived in myths and legends, Overkill - though it's a pretty story, I do have to admit. The Galactic Calderon, in which all Starseeds are born and return -"
"...And what if it was real?"
Uranus blinked. "Eh? Are you telling me you've actually seen it, or something?"
"...No, but - "
"But?"
A*0-1 shook her head. There was something -
No, it was drifting away... And there was no time for such shadowy things, anyway.
"You're a bloody freak who not only didn't die with her planet, but actually went on to Link herself to other planets and parasited off their energy. You bloody fake. You're about as much real Senshi as Galaxia's braceleted husks..."
Uranus looked at her, then, and... simply sighed. A*0-1 gritted her teeth. That was not the reaction she'd been looking for.
"Do you always have to say the same things? Your taunting skills need upgrading, Overkill. As well as many other things, I reckon..."
And then, Uranus smirked.
"Not to mention that the first time I got "plugged" in a planet I hadn't grown up with was when some other Senshi from another System picked me - well, m'Starseed - up, and plugged me in a planet which had recently lost it's "active" Senshi, as they wanted Senshi who could fight right now, if I recall properly. Err. You really don't remember, Overkill?"
"...Remember...what?" A*0-1 hesitated, scowling.
"One of you was part of the group that tried that - I think, that is? I mean, there is this vague but persistent memory of somebody who pretended to be my friend and then tried to break my Link and kill me - or maybe just kill me first, whatever - when they decided most of the local Enemies were gone for the duration - "
Eh? A*0-1 snorted. "Ridiculous. As if I'd ever even pretend to be your friend - and anyway, what else where we supposed to do? The real Senshi of Slarin or whatever was probably ready to reincarnate, and even if she wasn't, there were other backup Potentials that would have come on-line sooner or later. Why should we let any outsider keep on sucking off our Star System's energies, anyway! It wasn't like you were all that useful any more..."
A*0-1 clapped a hand to her mouth. Where the hell had that come from?
"Ohhhh. Flashback problems, Overkill dearest? - Don't you worry, I'm having them too - "
That did not make A*0-1 feel much better about the general situation, frankly.
"Say, I'm remembering a little more - weren't you pretending to be a Senshi of one of the minor Satellites then? Way to try to blend in, Overkill darling. - You know, I've always wondered what happened after - that. What did they do to you, Silicore dearest, when they discovered they'd actually had the dreaded "Sailor Overkill", Linked to a bloody massive black hole, right in there middest, pretending to be one of their own -"
A*0-1 bit her lip. Oh, now she did remember...
- Those ungrateful bastards. After all she'd done for them. Why, they wouldn't even have been able to make use of Tanzanium as long as they had, if she hadn't gone and handled her when nobody else deigned to -
No, wait, Tanzanium? A*0-1 craned her neck, looking at Kina/Uranus. There was this sinking feeling...
"What do you think? - The Hani - no, Hanniir - Princess rather graciously offered to not go warn all the neighboring Star Systems that "Sailor Overkill" was in the vincity if I'd just leave quietly without causing a fuss and never return. - So I did."
Oh, Princess... A*0-1 bit her lip. She'd been tall and slender, with a kind voice, and beautiful. She still remembered, that much. Even if the memories hurt...
Uranus laughed, long and not quite so coldly, oddly enough.
"Well, that was better then you deserved, frankly, in my opinion, though I do admit I'm biased about that- did she keep her promise?"
"- I have no idea. Galaxia got me, not long after."
"Eh?" Uranus blinked. "You got thralled?"
"No, this was when she was just starting out with the bracelets control system and such - she just killed me. That time, anyway."
Uranus smirked, at that. ""Well, good, then - It really could've been worse, you know?"
Well, true, but - A*0-1 glared. "You're still a freak. The next time I saw you, you were just going and plugging yourself into any old planet, all on your own volution -"
Uranus sighed, yet again. "I was still a Senshi and acting as one, protecting the planet - well, more like the Star System as an whole - that I was "plugged" into. The planets -well, the Star System as a whole, more like - quite often don't mind a couple of extra Links, you know, as long as you don't have massive "personality conflicts" or something. - And I was far from the only Senshi doing that kind of thing. There were plenty of us who'd lost planets and things we were Linked to, then..."
"Not Senshi. Fake. Parasites."
Uranus sighed.
"Oh, shut up, you, and stop spooking your main personality in the here-and-now, Silicore. Senshi is as Senshi does, and all that..."
Uranus looked pensive.
"I do know that me, myself, and I and perfection barely have a noddin' acquaintance, Overkill dearest. All I have to do is remember the bloody stupidity of a certain incarnation of mine who tried to muscle in a planet who quite certainly didn't want to Link with me, as it's quite active Senshi made quite clear, and... Eww. Alright, so I wasn't the only one doing something that stupid then, but still."
Uranus shook her head, strangely reminding A*0-1 of Kina at that moment.
"So, enough talking for now- should we wrap this up, Overkill darling?
A*0-1 warily watched Uranus. What was she thinking of? Well, the sheer amount of energy she'd been throwing about had been quite unthinkable for the old "Kina", or Tanza, or any of all those half-remembered shadows of that particular being's incarnations for that matter, but -
And then Uranus smiled, and raised her hand.
"And for thee, I tremble."
Saturn hissed. Pluto, Neptune and Ryouga all looked at her in alarm, as the entire sub-space bubble they were in seemed to ripple and warp.
"Barrett Trap activating, Barrett Trap activating, move move move move now!"
