As happened far too often for Ranma's liking, when they passed the old woman's house she managed to splash Ranma with her ladle. She didn't actually need to water the sidewalk, mind you, but she'd grown up in the countryside, and become accustomed to watering the path every morning to keep the the dust down. Some habits just didn't change.
Ranma, however, did change, and came to a sudden halt. "Gah! Now what do I do?" she shrieked.
Akane stopped and looked over her shoulder, then groaned. "You hurry up so we can get to school on time! You can change back then!" She took off jogging (awkward with bound hands, but possible), and Ranma soon caught up to her. "What is wrong with you today, did you hit your head or something?"
Ranma deliberately stayed a little behind her, where she couldn't see Akane's... well, her front. Her back was distracting enough. "Somethin' like that, I guess. Maybe the Old Freak managed ta slip me somethin'"
Akane nearly missed a step, "The who?" Was Ranma losing his mind? All the Powers knew he had reason enough to want to retreat from reality, but she'd never thought he'd actually do it!
Oh man. Akane must really be out of it this mornin', Ranma thought. "You know, Happosai? The old lech?" When she burst out laughing, the boy-turned-girl got even more confused.
"Happosai? Grandfather Happosai? Slip you... " Akane could barely walk for laughter. "That sweet old man? I don't know where you found those mushrooms, but could you point me to some?"
