Finally reaching home after a somewhat uncomfortable walk with her gym teacher, Akane called out as customary when returning home. “I’m home!”
Seeing Kasumi pop her head around from the kitchen, she was the first to return her greeting. “Welcome home Akane-chan.”
Smiling at her sweet older sister, Akane walked towards her after slipping off her shoes. “Is Master Ranma home?”
Sighing gently and putting a hand to her cheek, Kasumi looked a bit wistful. “No, I’m afraid not.”
Mildly surprised, Akane briefly looked around the house despite what she heard. “Did he come home earlier today?”
Brightening up, Kasumi nodded happily. “Oh yes. Ranma-kun was a little upset, but we went out for a nice little date.” Pausing, Kasumi waggled her finger at her little sister. “Akane-chan, I know you’re enjoying your games, but that wasn’t nice of you to tell Ranma-kun we couldn’t kiss any more.”
That gave Akane pause, but she focused on the nicer topic. “You went on a date?”
Smiling warmly, Kasumi nodded happily while clasping her hands. “Oh yes, it was quite nice to get out of the house. We walked around the neighborhood, he treated me to ice cream, then I laid my head on his lap and took a little nap among the trees.”
At that Akane blinked, mouth pursing slightly in thought at how very innocent that all sounded. “So, you had a nice day?” Getting a happy nod from Kasumi, the younger sister continued to the matter at hand. “Well, where is Master Ranma now?”
With the change in topic Kasumi went from happy smiling to neutral smiling quickly. “Oh, well he went home to visit his mother. He said he’d meet you at school in the morning.”
Once again Akane found herself mildly stunned, this time at how reasonable it sounded. Obviously if he’d been on the road for so long, going home was what should have happened. Thinking about it, it was just a bit disappointing he hadn’t taken her with him. “Oh. Okay.”
Numbly walking from the kitchen to the family room where the fathers were, Akane prepared to correct that oversight. “Excuse me, Uncle Saotome, where is Ranma’s mother’s house at?”
Visibly seizing up as a chill went up his back, the chubby gi-clad put on a cool front before responding. “His mother’s house? Why would you ask a silly question like that?”
Pausing as she shored up her own reasoning, while she was curious to know more about Ranma, she was also honor-bound to keep up their agreement. “I want to go visit him. I know he’s visiting his mother, but I think I should stay near his side at least.”
Swallowing hard, the fat man laughed nervously. “Ahahaha! Well that’s not a problem, because obviously he’s not there.”
Finding something very odd about the reaction, Akane noticed the fat weasel was sweating now. “Well, Kasumi-nechan said he went to visit his mother for the night.”
After sweating more profusely and finally turning pale, Genma reacted by springing up and sprinting upstairs, creating quite a racket as he slammed his way into the guest room and then, much to Akane’s annoyance judging by the footfalls, into her room.
Sighing at the antics of what was supposed to be a grown man, Akane turned towards the woman following her. “Well it doesn’t look like he’s here coach, you’ll just have to talk to him at school.”
A little uncomfortable visiting a student’s home under such circumstances, the girl’s gym teacher allowed herself to be led back towards the door. “Was that his father?”
Putting the teacher outside as quickly as she could instead of answering, Akane stormed upstairs. Sure enough Genma had been in her room and tossed the place, irritating the girl. Now looking for the fat man so she could chew him out, Akane was disappointed to find he’d already slipped out of the house. “What the hell was that about?”
Poking her head back around the corner from the kitchen, Kasumi gave her little sister a concerned look. “Is something wrong?”
Taking a breath to try and calm down, Akane cast an annoyed look at her sister. “Uncle Baka trashed my room! And he still didn’t tell me where Ranma’s house is, he just freaked out.”
Getting a hearty, “Oh my!”, from her sister, Akane walked back upstairs to her room, slowly straightening her things out.
Ranma had of course moved into her room, but his pack and clothes were gone from the little corner he’d claimed. Presumably that’s what Genma had been looking for, but since it’d been gone when he arrived, he’d looked through her stuff. Not that she knew for sure what was going on now, but it seemed like the simple answer.
Putting her room back in order however brought home just how rapidly Ranma had arrived and was now essentially gone from her life.
Well, not completely gone. Even if he moved home he’d at least see her at school. Despite everything, Ranma did seem serious about actually training her. Unfortunately she hadn’t the slightest clue about how to actually continue her training.
Soon afterwards her thoughts wandered to the other side of their relationship. Other than the kiss, and she had all but dared him to do that, Ranma seemed intent on not taking advantage of her. The pranks of her sneaky middle sister aside, Akane knew Ranma was simply doing the right thing as he saw it. It just didn’t feel like that at times because she got nervous in his presence, making it difficult for her to be around him.
Considering Nabiki’s comment about doing her part to please Ranma, Akane decided to ignore it in favor of going with what Ranma wanted. Still, she could at least be friendlier with him. Things seemed a bit oddly distant between them and she realized that was almost entirely her fault. Ranma was the one trying to keep things nice and friendly between them, so as long as she didn’t encourage him to take advantage of her, it should be alright.
Nodding in satisfication, Akane turned her mind to her school work.
Twenty minutes later, she was having a nice day dream about Ranma slipping back in through the window to play with his sex-slave.
It had been a really nice kiss.
