World War I (or the Great War) had gone a bit differently and the aristocracy of Europe had never gone out of power.
The world was not less prone to war, but more prone to petty squabbles and limited-engagement fighting than ever. The Mexan Confederacy and Chinan had been engaged in border disputes for over a century all by themselves.
Russia had gobbled up much of Europe, China another good portion of its corner of the globe. All this and the year was just 1960.
Setsuna let out a deep breath. Well, she certainly had her work cut out for her.
Gone was the reluctance to have Ranma getting together with one of the Senshi. In this fight they needed all the help they could get.
Ranma wouldn't be enough though. If they were kung-fu cockroaches from beyond, maybe. Against their stormtrooper-equivelants no doubt he'd be able to hold his own at least. Sheer numbers though, that would be a significant problem. Even if the fighting went on for hours, eventually he'd tire and slip. Same with any of the Senshi for that matter. A tide of chitinous bodies and the hordes would eventually overcome individual resistance.
They came across the depths of space, their technology merely a few centuries ahead of Earth's level. Because of their mental architecture innovation came slower to them, but they also weren't hampered by human sensibilities or frailties. The value of an individual was unknown, they only cared for the group.
The world around her was ill equipped to fight off even the lead carrier with its near-million landing-attack craft.
STL ships, their crews mostly in cryostasis which their largely primitive bodies could tolerate better than complicated mammallian forms. She had thirty years before the attack. Would it be enough time?
