Taking a large bite out of her fish and egg sandwich Ranko smiled, just enjoying the tranquility of the mid-april morning. To spend her morning like this, with her mother and father and her stupid stupid brother, to spend her morning with her family like this. Spend it in peace and quite without all the fighting and hardships she still remembered having once known. Letting out a small she took another sip of her milk watching her family go about their daily morning routine.
There was her mother, unflappable as always strictly holding to tradition. And her dad, her old man, just like her finding satisfaction in his breakfast. Her brother.. yeah she was his sister now... what was she to do with him anyways? Having emptied her glass she reached for the container and refilled it while watching her dad stuff another egg and cheese sandwich into his mouth.
"You're worrying me boy." Genma mumbled between chews. "Why when I was you're age I ate twice what you do now!"
Glancing at her father Ranko just shook her head. Why didn't that surprise her? Still ..Ranma was thirteen, she wasn't, she was nine and a girl yet she still ate more than he did.
"Genma dear, do let the boy be." Nodoka chided her husband poking him in his belly. "You can't expect him to eat as much as a grown man."
"That is not the point! His little sister is eating more than him!" Genma scoffed finishing his coffee.
"I know.." Her mom sighed giving her a troubled look. Being reborn she had been determined to give herself.. her real self her male self the happy life that she had been denied. It had worked for the most part. He seemed genuinely happy and that made her happy.. yet.. was she happy?
She had asked herself this almost every morning, everyday and every night. Was Ranko happy? The issue was confusing.
Being a girl was confusing. She and her mother talked everyday now, but her mother was talking with her. Girl-talk.. jeez.
"Mom, dad I need to eat this way!! I'm a martial artist!!" She told them stuffing her own mouth with the last of her sandwich. Why was her mother so worried about her weight?
"That's just my point! How can our son become a great martial artist if he doesn't eat properly?!" Genma growled shoving his now empty coffee-cup away.
"Right.." the boy drawled flipping to his feet "Listen I have to get to school.." Leaving the breakfast table Ranma hurriedly gave their mother a kiss on her cheek before leaving the house through an open window.
"Honestly I don't know what to do with that idiot" Ranko grumbled finishing her breakfast and giving her mother and father each a kiss on their cheeks. Now as a girl she didn't have as much trouble expressing her love for both her stupid parents as she had had as a boy. Heading out out she hurried after Ranma.
"Honestly, I don't know what to do with that girl.. " Nodoka grumbled as she gave her husband a kiss before seeing him of to work.
