He went past women lounging around on cushions and stuff. Some were frantically stopping what they were doing, and which he was only peripherally aware of as being kinda "risky" but definitely not fighting. After going through and getting followed by several of these gals, he was quite aware that this place had the usual fittings of a torture chamber but there were other things involved.
"Uhm," said Ranma after a search had failed to show anyone looking as if they were an Overlord or rival pirate captain or something along that line. "Hi! I just beat the crap out of that Tyrantominus AZZ9 guy and I'm the new Overlord here. Is there some dangerous prisoner in here?"
That caused all the gals gathered to begin discussing things among themselves. Nobody seemed to be eager for a fight, though they were eyeing him in OTHER manners. Predatory? Hungry? Maybe they didn't get much food?
"Yes, we saw your fight on the monitors," said one of the gals, indicating a television tuned to the Fight Channel.
"Oh," said Ranma. He could understand the interest in THAT at least. Always good to research possible opponents. Maybe one of these gals was to fight him?
His eyes went over the girls present, gauging their fighting ability. There were twenty four total.
"Oh, that must be the seraglio," realized Alecto. "Well, better him than me."
"What's a 'seraglio'?" asked Harris.
"It's a..." Alecto wondered how to explain this to what amounted to a sentient tree.
"The former Overlord had issues," said Stetson.
"He was a perv," said James, it sounding like a compliment. "Even if he didn't have the equipment to indulge it."
"I don't get it," said Harris.
Alecto tried anyway. "Tyrantominus went to various Netherworlds and other dimensions, acquiring and training sexslaves."
"Oh," said Harris, who was a plant-based lifeform and therefore not all that comprehending of mammallian and pseudo-mammallian mating practices. Pollinating seemed a lot more efficient.
Ranma was used to battle. If one of the women had attacked him, shown indication of threat, gotten angry or something along those lines - he'd have known what to do.
There was some power in some of them. Less power in others. He wasn't sure how to interpret some of the remainder.
Shrugging, he took his battle scanner out of his pocket and checked levels.
Serenity was the gal with the silver hair and two balls with ponytails atop her head. Odd hairstyle. Not that all the black lace against pale skin didn't also look... odd as far as Ranma was concerned. Didn't look like a particularly effective battle costume. She didn't LOOK that high a level, but a Level 124 Healer was potentially useful.
The gal with the big bad sword was identified as being KOS-MOS while the little girl with her was identified as MOMO. The little girl's presence was kind of odd, but she wasn't dressed the same as the others (her outfit actually covered everything) and she didn't exactly look threatening.
For that matter none of them really looked like a threat at present.
"OH HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!"
Except maybe that Naga gal. Man, talk about your annoying laughs.
