Slayers Project L: Reluctant Acceptance [Episode 173693]

by Disruptor

As the group walked towards Zarev, Lina brooded a bit about what she had found out about herself. She was not too concerned about the Zuuma/Seigram fusion about harming her. She went back over her old adventures and sighed in resignation.

"Great. Just great. Her," Lina muttered.

"Miss Lina?" Amelia asked.

"Nothing important, Amelia. I think I know who hired Diol to do this to me," Lina stated with a shake of her head.

Lina held up her hand and created an illusion of a woman in her early twenties with black hair.

"She calls herself 'Nali'. It's not her real name and she is crazy and obsessed. I now know why this was done to me," Lina said, and created another illusion of a short dumpy old man. "This is Diol the crazy old man."

"So, would this Miss Nali have a copy of the Claire Bible?" Xellos asked.

"No. She would not and she thinks that magic that calls upon Ruby-Eye and his followers or Cephied and his is not of any real use," Lina replied. "What she does believe in is a bit crazy. We are dealing with two lunatics. Diol is obsessed with chimera research and keeps pushing the boundaries on that. Neither would bother with the Claire Bible. As I told you before, no deaths. I want those two alive."

"What if this Miss Nali has people following her?" Xellos asked.

"She does. I still want no deaths. They are innocent people who are caught up in the madness of Nali and Diol and really don't deserve to die for it," Lina replied. "This isn't a bunch of bandits. They are people who were injured by bandits in one way or another."

"How do you know this?" Zelgadis asked.

"After we have Diol and Nali and that situation is taken care of, you'll probably find out," Lina replied.

"What of the Zuuma/Seigram person?" Zelgadis asked a bit nervous.

"He is not at the top of my list to deal with. I need to know if my ex-partner is going to be suffering from anything that those two idiots have done. So, we'll probably have to track her down after Nali and Diol are taken care of," Lina replied.

"Ex-partner?" Gourry asked.

"She left after I tested the Giga-Slave at the Bay of Death. She was terrified of it. At least I don't have to worry about that anymore."

"Why is that Miss Lina?" Xellos asked a bit curious.

"Oh, that's right. You weren't there when I found that out. It turns out that I can no longer cast it or the Dragon Slave. I've lost a lot of my arsenal of Black Magic due to this alteration to my body," Lina said. "I also have the feeling that the majority of Holy Magic is beyond me as well."

Xellos scratched his chin and shook his head. "Hmm. I see."

'Lord Hellmaster is not going to like this,' Xellos thought.

Lina gave a snort. "I can't even use those silly Demon Blood Talismans I bought from you. I'm keeping them and studying them to get a better handle on creating magic boosters."

"No offense Miss Lina, but where are they?" Xellos asked.

Lina reached into the shadow of a tree and pulled out the four talismans. She held them up for Xellos to see and then put them back into the shadow realm.

"I have these weird abilities. I might as well use them," Lina said. "There is a large cart that is enchanted to follow me around in that realm. I just stick stuff I want nearby on it and that prevents anyone from being able to steal anything from me."

Lina cocked her head to one side and tried something.

'Reina, can you hear me?' Lina thought

'Yes, Mistress. What do you want?'

'How are you doing on finding out what I'm a goddess of?'

'There are a lot of stories and we aren't through them all yet.'

'What do you have so far?'

'Fire, Destruction, and Justice.'

'Add Free Will, Shadow and Magic to that list,' Lina thought. 'What happened to you has offended me greatly. I do like studying magic and of course that shadow realm is obvious. Put finding out what I'm a goddess of off for right now and get together with the others and come up with names for all of you. Do not use Nali as a name.'

'Yes, Mistress.'

Lina sighed and shook her head and sighed heavily. 'Goddess of Justice? Right. Rina Sanverse and that silliness.'

"Great. I'm going to have to track her down as well," Lina muttered.

"Track who down, Miss Lina?" Amelia asked.

"There are a lot of long stories involved in this mess," Lina said. "I'll tell you later."

As the group walked on, Lina closed her eyes and felt stories being told of her in other countries. She felt the fear of bandits and the admiration of others pouring into her.

'I feed on fear like a Mazoku or admiration like a Shinzoku apparently,' Lina thought, as she opened her eyes. 'I dislike the idea that that outfit is part of me, but I have to get used to it.'
