Of course, it did not matter to her just how she was going to be used by the masters. To the way of thinking that was being created as her mind was cut apart and pasted back together, any method of acting for them was to be welcomed and done as quickly as possible. Her only stumbling blocks were to be how she was supposed to act on those directives, and even then, her controller would tell her what to do.
As it was, the unit knew what she was supposed to be doing. It was to be her honor to be the vehicle to enable the masters to survive in this world's environment. She only knew that it was hostile to their survival, and because of that, they needed her to be there to keep them safe, but not as a guard. Rather, she would be the protective item that kept them alive, like a hazmat suit.
Not that she particularly cared about the 'hows' and 'whys' of what she would be used for, save for what would be immediately necessary to serve the masters as best she could. The fact of the matter was that she was there to be useful to them, and any questioning was not only irrelevant, but was an obstruction to being as usable as she could be for her controllers.
Because of that, she did not even really wonder how they would use her to survive on the blue-green world below them. If she needed to know, they would tell her, and she knew that she didn't need to know. However, in their kindness, they allowed her to know what she was going to become, and she felt even more devoted to them as she thought about how exactly she would be changed.
And so she looked forward to what she became as the tube opened, and she stepped out as:
