Okay-dokie now - it was time for Stage Two.
Which started right now. No, really - time was of the essence, after all...
Pluto smiled very sinisterly indeed, and pushed a small button.
And smiled very widely indeed, then, as the figure of Saotome Ranma AKA Lightwings winked out of the middle of the Spring of Drowned Girl...
Saturn moaned, feeling something - cut off.
And all over the world...people moaned, or groaned, or clutched their heads.
Mostly girls and woman. But not all.
Tenjin Ranko dreamed of red flowers.
Her family name was Tenjin, though it had been another name when she had been born, she'd heard. No matter, she'd been a Tenjin since she could remember how to say her name, anyway.
Her mother had died when she was a infant. Of her father she had no memories, though sometimes she seemed to vaguely remember a big man with a cloth tied around his head. She'd been told he was still alive, but he'd never come and seen her, as far as she knew anyway...
But that was OK, as her Auntie and Uncle were her mama and daddy in all but name. They didn't have any kids of their own, but they did have her, that's what they always said...
She'd been always good at sports, and had been a bit interested in Judo or Kendo when she was little, but her Auntie and Uncle had looked so sad and even a bit scared when she said she wanted to learn that she told them she changed her mind and she never mentioned it again. Her blood father had been some kind of Martial Artist, she heard later, but he'd been a feckless man who didn't really take care of his family at all, and - well, that was why Auntie and Uncle didn't want her to learn Martial Arts, she supposed. They were afraid that she'd become like him, with nothing she cared about but the Art...
Well, it was OK, though. She was in the Gymastics club all though junior high and high school, and that was fun. She wasn't competing or anything like that, so there was plenty of time left to just go out with friends and that kind of thing, and that was important too, right?
And then...
Pluto looked at Saotome Ranma, currently in girl-form, floating in the Virtial Reality Matrix. Oh, he wasn't anyplace even near the Time Gate were she was now - she wasn't going to risk getting dosed with even more of the Light Gate's power then she had already over the years, thank you very much - all this had been set up in advance, and automated as much as possible to boot.
The VRM was currently in a sub-space bubble of it's very own, so she didn't have to worry so much about current time and such things. Which was good, of course.
The program currently running in it was from a different timeline not far from this one. This Tenjin Ranko, whose memories she was basing the program on, was a true analogue of this Saotome Ranma, as they had the same 'soul' as far as she had been able to tell from checking her Starseed, so this program should work OK...
Hopefully.
OK, then...was it time for stage three, now?
Hmmmm... Decisions, decisions...
