Shinji stared at where he'd held a magic lamp a minute ago. "Hey, wait a minute. That was real?!"
Too bad for Shinji there was no one there to hear him anymore. Even the few civilians present and the security agents had thought it was just a publicity stunt or something and had continued with what they were doing. But it was good that neither the agents nor the cameras had caught what Shinji's wish had been, or they would have been able to learn his secret... if they had believed what had happened, that is.
Because what Shinji had wished for as a joke was for all the girls that he knew or wanted to be his loveslaves.
Hey, if Aida had hired this girl to make fun of him, then Shinji would say what his friend had surely wanted to hear. Why had he shown Shinji that particular magazine in the first place if he hadn't intended for the Eva pilot to use the reference later?
But as he saw the girl and the lamp vanish, and checked his mind for the new knowledge he suddenly found there, he realized that Kensuke Aida had had nothing to do with it.
"It's true," Shinji said, still stunned. "I know how to do it. I feel the power in me." The teenage boy was suddenly hit by the reality of what he had wished for, and was understandably shocked. "I better go home...," he concluded before running towards Misato's apartment as fast as he could.
After closing the door behind him, taking off his shoes, running and slumping on the couch with a big sigh, the Third Child thought hard of what he had done... and what he could do now.
"Is it true? Can I really control people?" The concept of having control over something in his life was completely alien to him. It wasn't surprising that he had some trouble dealing with the whole matter. Still, he was curious enough about the possibilities than to try to forget about the subject.
"Maybe I should test it. Just to see if it really works." He decided he had nothing to loose. If it didn't work, he would continue his life as usual, no one the wiser. And if it worked... If it worked... Shinji gulped from a suddenly dry throat.
His musings were interrupted by a sudden noise at the front door. "Tadaima!" A familiar female voice said.
"Hi, Misato!" Shinji said while standing up and walking to meet her. To himself he thought, 'I could test this on her, and be over it quickly if it's just my wild imagination playing tricks on me.'
Misato was placing her shoes at the entrance, commenting at the same time how the heels were killing her and how glad she was to free her feet at last. Shinji wasn't paying too much attention to her at the moment as he was focusing his new power to make it work for the first time.
"Misato?" he interrupted. "Could you look at me for a moment?" The Major turned to look at him without thinking about it, and found her gaze locked immediately by her younger roommate. There was something in Shinji's eyes that made it impossible for her to look away, or to think about anything at the moment. Her mind was suddenly as blank as her expression. Her body moved on its own accord and stood at attention in front of him.
'It works!' Shinji thought to himself, half excited, half terrified. Now that all his doubts were cleared he found himself with the unavoidable question of what to do next.
He wasn't sure how far he wanted to take this. It had been just a joke after all. But now that the possibility was real he couldn't help but wonder what could happen. Certainly the chance of having some control over one part of his life was very appealing, as was the thought of having a beautiful girl looking after him unconditionally. Finally, the sight of the gorgeous woman before him completely entranced made him decide to continue testing his newfound powers, at least just to see if they were all what they were supposed to be.
And what were they supposed to be?
