"Really," Ranma murmured, not wanting to really say anything that could get him into trouble.
"It is, but you knew that, didn't you?"
"Well...."
"Master?"
The pigtailed boy turned to look at the young boy who was trying to deal with his pets, who were apparently older than him. It did bring back certain memories for him, what with having to deal with his own issues, but he needed to focus right then. And as he did so, he started to remember what had happened in this new world. "I didn't recognize him, but there's a reason for that."
"Oh?"
"I couldn't see his face."
"Hmm," the youngest Tendo sister said as she turned to see where the boy in question was looking like he'd been rushing a bit. "I see. You didn't have a chance to recognize him, did you?"
"Pretty much."
"I see. Well then, it's no wonder that you didn't remember who he was quick, right?"
"Right. Except for one thing."
"What's that?"
"I was focusing in on how it's time ta eat. Kasumi's put dinner on the table, remember?"
"Oh, you're right!" Akane chirped, bouncing over to the named spot.
Ranma found himself unable to stop comparing her currently happy state with the difficulties that he remembered from the 'old' world, but then, it wasn't like the situation didn't invite such things. After all, this was the sort of change that made a guy have to take notice of how different it was. Most of what he was seeing was all that different, at least in the place, and the people were mostly the same, but everything was skewed slightly in tone. Of course, there were signs all over the place of what had happened, and he just had to think of how they'd come up to remember how it'd 'happened'.
Now that he had a name to go with the boy, he could do something along those lines. Memories that this new life had brought told him of a boy who'd come due to a desire to investigate some strange magical happenings. The martial artist had been certain that Negi had come as part of some kid's interest in the occult, or magic, or whatever, and that he simply thought of it as some sort of game or fantastic story rather than something possibly difficult or harmful. However, he had a lot of sympathy for the kid, given that he'd brought a bunch of girls with him. Having had the sort of experiences that he'd had, Ranma had accepted the reason why the Welsh boy had those girls around him, even if he couldn't immediately see what use they were going to be.
And now those girls were Negi's pets, though their transformations hadn't exactly been on the list of things to do. But since things tended to not go as planned, it was perfectly understandable why it had come to pass. As it was, instead of students, Negi had a bunch of pets of his own, each one seemingly devoted to him. Having those girls as his pets was a heavy burden for a ten year old, but Negi was surviving.
Still, the kid wasn't alone, and thankfully, they could talk to each other about their 'pet problems', since they were two guys with the same problem.
At the moment though, it was time to eat, and that took precedence to dealing with things he couldn't change right then. He was pretty sure that this could be a rather comfortable meal, as he wasn't going to have to deal with the same sort of difficulties that he'd had to suffer through before. All he'd have to do would be to sit down and eat, and he'd have a happy meal, with only his father there to try and steal food from him.
On second thought, he was going to have to make the best of the meal as he could, and he hoped to do his best with that, while:
