Pluto Plucks The Strings (V2) - Cars!?: The Past : The Tournament - Lady Beryl And Prince Darien [Episode 176352]

by Linnara

A Car floated in the darkness.

With the remains of something that had been a canopy, once upon a time...

And in another place, another Car slumbered.

*****************************

The female Car known as Lady Beryl to the Roses Court smiled sunnily at the mildly cloudy skies, her brand new bright red canopy waving in the stiff breeze. Not to hot, not too cold, and cloudy but not raining at the moment. According to the weather forecasts, the weather should clear up all the way by night, so she didn't have to worry about wearing a umbrella and raincovers, either.

Oh, she did try, but it was so hard to look even halfway presentable wearing an umbrella and raincoat... She was not an all-weather Car, and she did know it, but still.

And the Prince and his Four looked pretty damn fine, too. Lady Beryl grinned to herself. It really had been worth it convincing poor Kunzite to put fashion first, this one time at least.

Oh, it wasn't like she didn't like Kunzite's 'everyday form' - it wasn't every day you saw a cute little city runabout the size of a small two-storied garage, after all - but the shape he was wearing now really was smashing, if she said so herself.

And Jedite was looking as fine and sparkly as a little sporty scooter who'd just gotten a full makeover could be, Nephrite being Nephrite was looking as good as ever, such a paintmobile that 'crossover' SUV boy was, and - well, Zoicite the electric roadster was looking more feminine then ever but he did look good, and that was what would really matter, for today at least anyhow, so what the hell.

She watched Zoi gossip with the little nun who looked so much like Kunzite's 'everyday form', and smiled, then. She looked well, at least for now. It had worried Kunzite no end to hear she'd gotten sick...

And she'd better try to stop Zoicite from using up more of his batteries then he'd had already, tearing around here and there, now that she thought about it. Electric Vehicles of various and sundry types were not all that rare at this Court, especially nowadays, but they usually weren't the 'rubber-burning' types, she herself included, and the rate that Zoicite tended to use up his batteries were fearsome indeed sometimes.

But for now -

Lady Beryl looked over, and smiled hugely.

Prince Darien was here!

Oh, and he cut such a fine figure of a Car, too - Black with silver highlights just suited him so well. So what if he wasn't a sedan. Boo and humbug, and another two or three boos for good measure - who's powerful and elegant and is even pretty smart to boot?

Prince Darien, that's who!

*****************************

Prince Darien of the Line of Endymion smiled at Lady Beryl, wondering what to say.

Lady Beryl's Pavilion was filling up at a truly alarming rate, and that was mostly because of either him or his Royal Guards, as far as he could tell.

She'd told him she was trying to keep as much space open as possible because she was sure that they would be people they'd have to place at the very last minute, and she'd been right , as she usually was when it came to things like this, but -

In the end, he'd simply bowed to her, murmuring thanks, and watched her smile back.

The new canopy was over-the-top and utterly stunning and would no doubt be all the rage with females who wore such things as canopies all throughout the next season. But she knew that already, he was sure.

She was the Lady Beryl, after all... Classically beautiful (well, she was!), knows more then most Cars ever dream of, a patron of the arts (and artists, and actors, and singers, and dancers, and ceramic makers, and...) a bit of a thought-processor-in-clouds sometimes, chatterbox (but not about the important things, no - ) always ready with a smile and a kind word, and some extra fun, and -

Hmmm. Maybe he'd offer to escort her - incognito, of course, Lady Beryl loved dressing up, as far as he knew, though it wasn't easy in her case - to see some famous actor or singer or something like that. She'd like that.

...Well, he hoped she would, anyway...

And that was for the future, anyway - for now, he had to concentrate on the Tournament...

*****************************

A Car mumbled in the night.

His roommate groaned, softly. "Chiba, what is it?"

There was no answer...
