As Ranma recovered mentally from the Day of Repetition, a day repeated as each girl's/goddess'/Demoness'/*guy's* lovermate (& took note that Genma must DIE for the 8 MEN that he'd affianced to Ranma, only 3 of whom were after Jusenkyo) He heard sobbing. Absolute and total shuddering sorrow. He turned and he hugged her.

Mihoshi was totally heartbroken and going into shock. It seems she too had seen the Day, and also remembered the Background Info that each Day's marriage/relationship afforded Ranma.
All of which sometime or other crossed Ranma with the absolute worst Klutzy Fuggitup in this or most other universes, namely Mihoshi! Either that or revealed her dying from virtually everything, from Kagato to Lemon juice in the eye and a cliff. And Always her Fault.
The very worst part was the depressing number of times she'd dragged Tenchi or one/some/all of the others down with her, usually her own partner Kiyone!
You'll forgive her shock, after that much ego crushing, when Ranma first hugged, then smooched her.

Mihoshi wriggled some, but she couln't HELP it, she was kissing back, she needed to be cared for, needed it more than life, and her soul knew it. Ranma kisses her hard and held her, it would look Hentai to a Daisuke, and BREATHING has looked Hantai to Akane, but anyone else would know better.
When the kiss broke, Mihoshi said shakily "Ranma, you have to get away, I'm a jinx, I'm.." Ranma just turned her face so she couldn't avoid seeing the compassion and absolute determination in his eyes.
"Mihoshi. I wished to know what to do romantically. I'm a Martial Artist, sworn to protect and teach the weak how to become better. I saw that every one of those others was as good or better withOUT me, but not you, and you're too kind to leave in those shitty situations. SO. Here's the deal. I am going to go to that shrine and teach you my Art, and we'll see from there."
Ranma himself had lived each and every one of those remembered slices of life, and he was considerably put out at himself, not quite realising how all those experiences had enriched his mind and spirit.
He was Bold. Careful. Resolute and Honorable.
In other words, everything Genma had tried his level best to break in Ranma.
So, after that pledge, Ranma turned to get his stuff;
