Golden Destinies: Vr. 3: The Loss of a Cure for the Sake of a Friend [Episode 176517]

by The Demented Redhead

Werecats from all around Jade had begun to gather around the temple that was to their patron goddess, as they looked on to her messenger. In the time he had been around, word had spread to all corners of Jade, and many had hoped to see the avatar of their goddess.

And there he was, sitting in a meditative state, as many of the Council of Mages stood near, including the Armsmaster of Jade herself.

But they could try and talk to him later. At the moment, they preferred to stay silent, as the time was soon approaching, when he would perform a miracle that his Goddess had told him to perform.

So they waited, and prayed.

“So ... this is my only hope,” Julia said, watching as chi flowed around Ranma, and as several mages watched and tried to take notes on his weird system of storing energy from the Ethereal Stream inside himself, instead of tapping into it.

Gneiss nodded. “If we had the exact spell that the Lich King used, perhaps we could find a way. But the one we have been preparing for the Questing Dragon has been under development for decades. Affecting anything on the sub-atomic level takes power, control, focus, and a shit-load of luck. If this fails, we will of course continue to try, but as I just said, it doesn’t look good.”

He turned around, spotting several healers nearby, many of which had been specifically picked for this assignment, being the best around. If Ranma’s warning was to be believed, it was going to be likely they would be needed soon.

He even had a messenger ready to deliver a message to Theo about their success, said messenger being originally from Earth. The moment he could see Julia and the attempt proclaimed a success, he would teleport to Earth and inform Theo.

Suddenly, the chi around Ranma vanished, as his eyes opened, their focus seemingly beyond them, as his left arm shot out. “Kinjaken!” he yelled, as a circular tipped staff shot out of his sleeve. His right arm shot out as well. “Gekkaja!” he yelled, as a crescent-tipped staff appeared.

He slowly brought them together, both staffs glowing an eerie blue, as energy began to spark around their tips, until their blunt ends touched, and melded together.

Slowly, he stood up, holding the staff parallel to the ground. “I am ready,” was all he said.

Julia nodded, as she made her way over to him, both feeling nervous at what was about to transpire. It was her best chance to return to her love, her children—both born and adopted—and her freedom.

“I offer the Gift of Cure that the Goddess Bastet gave to me,” stated Ranma, his voice seeming to grow louder as he continued on. “I offer the code that cures me of Jusenkyo’s bite, to restore what was taken from Julia Brigand Diggers.

“GRANT MY REQUEST!” he yelled, as the skies began to darken, lightning pouring around the clouds, and wind blowing with a primal fury.

Julia could only stand still in awe, before her world lit up in pain.

Theo sighed as he sat in his chair, the two girls still in his lap, where they had been since their return from Jade. And while they still had hope that Ranma could still return Julia to them, even they couldn’t use that hope to continue on as if nothing had happened.

Yesterday, they had received a message stating what Ranma had been informed of by Bastet. Before Theo could sink lower into guilt and self-pity when he heard about the sub-atomic reason, the messenger explained what Ranma was going to do.

Theo knew of Jusenkyo through Ranma, he had even been there to examine the magical nexus.

He then made certain he or anyone else from Section Zero never would be sent there again. The place was a cesspool of chaotic and primordial magical energies.

And Ranma was going to give up his cure for that chaos to restore Julia to them.

He wasn’t blind, and he knew there was something between the two. In all likelihood, if Ranma had come sooner, or another such circumstance, it was very conceivable that those two would be together.

But Ranma was not going to change their relationship, and neither was Julia. Thus, they had settled into a sibling style relationship.

Of course, the little green-eyed monster did come out on occasion. Usually it ended with him buying Julia some gifts, a night out, and plenty of high-impact nookie. The type of high-impact nookie that often left him spending a good portion of the day healing himself and replenishing his fluids.

“Excuse me?”

The three paused in whatever reflections they were having, spotting a young man before them, the same messenger as before.

And ... he was smiling. “It worked.”
