"Where did Pop go, now!?" the pigtailed boy cursed. He, Ranma Saotome, of all people, was lost in the woods. Not that it was any big catastrophe, he had spent most of his life camping; he could live here, indefinitely. As woods go, it wasn't all that bad. "But-Man!-it certainly goes on far enough! I should've reached something by now."
Ranma wondered as he wandered why his pop had brought him this way, anyway. He had said they were going to Tokyo, to some suburb called "Nerima", or some such name. They were going to mooch off an old friend of his, for awhile. "I don't know why we just didn't stay in China and try and find a cure for my SO irritating girl curse."
That plan had changed, though, when a long, black limo pulled up and pulled his pop inside. They had revved the motor and drove off with him, before Ranma had a chance to react. The windows were tinted, and he couldn't even see who was stupid enough to want to snatch his wothless old man.
Using his training, Ranma was able to track down the limo; just as pop was thrown out of it and it sped off. That's when his old man announced they were going some place else. He gave no further info; and for a guy who loved to yak, that was saying something. He had been clearly frightened.
"Wait! There's more light up ahead; the trees are gettin' sparser. It's either a clearing, or a way out of here! Yipee!"
He leaped into a front yard. No ordinary front yard. There was nothing, no way, not in the whole wide world could this yard be called ordinary. Its lawn went on for acres, all meticulously mown and maintained, divided into large geometric sections by a boulevard down the center with only relatively smaller avenues stemming off from the center “plaza”, where a large fountain operated. And beyond was an equally imposing European-style mansion. The bottom story was nearly two high and made of a series of arches of yellow, stone blocks; on top of those arches were much higher, multi-story arches of marble, with nothing but huge windows between each; and on top was a red slate roof.
"Uh, oh! I wandered into a rich guy's estate. I'm in for it, now."
As if his just mentioning that he was in trouble were the signal, the huge doors of the mansion opened, and out rushed hundreds and hundreds of people in uniforms; so many, they running steps sounded like a stampede. Uttering a loud expletive, Ranma made to bolt away from the army of servants.
--Only to trip on some exposed root, in his haste. He was scrambling up and back for the woods, when he heard laughter and giggles. All female. Daring to look over his shoulder, he saw that they were all girls: Young girls! Some of them children; but none had to be older than, perhaps, her mid-twenties. And they were all dressed in what even he recognized as maids' uniforms, of all different lengths and tightness and colors of the rainbow, plus black and white..
They lined up in neat rows and lines and said as one, smiling whole,: "Welcome, Ranma-sama! Welcome to your new home! Everything you see is yours!” A lot of giggles followed those last words.
